That portrait I made is based on this photograph, which first of all is a sculpture made by Nicolas Coustou in 1696 and is currently in the Louvre.I do not know who took that photography but really all of those that have the sculpture and can be see on Google this is the most imposing, the angle makes it look very brutal.

Ese retrato que realice esta basado en esta fotografía, que primero que todo es una escultura hecha por Nicolas Coustou en 1696 y que actualmente se encuentra en el Louvre.No se quien tomo esa fotografia pero realmente de todas las que tiene la escultura y se pueden ver en Google esta es la mas imponente, el angulo la hace ver muy brutal.

Process/Proceso

Laurels/Laureles

Actually the process of the laurels was very very long, I did not have enough time for my work, so every day I dedicated myself carefully to drawing one by one, in this whole process I spent a week and a half. (In the sketch I was only one end Full week xd). I took many photos in detail to this, and I would like to upload them all, but it would be to reload the post :(.

En realidad, el proceso de los laureles fue muy muy largo, no tenía suficiente tiempo por mi trabajo, así que todos los días me dediqué cuidadosamente a dibujar uno por uno, en todo este proceso pasé una semana y media. (En el boceto solo tenía un final de la semana completa xd). Tomé muchas fotos en detalle para esto, y me gustaría subirlas todas, pero sería para cargar la publicación :(.

One of the things I learned with this portrait a correct way to slide the pencil to achieve a more pure and subtle chiaroscuro, so on each sheet I took enough time to review each gray, make it darker or lighten it a little more.

Una de las cosas que aprendi con este retrato una manera correcta de deslizar el lapiz para lograr un claroscuro mas puro y sutil, por eso en cada hoja me tome el tiempo suficiente por repasar cada gris, hacerlo mas oscuro o aclararlo un poco mas.

My camera is a total garbage, and as I did the drawing at different times you can tell quite a bit the difference of lights by the time of day, totally different. The lower part of the laurel wreath was a bit simpler because almost everything was black.

Mi camara es una total basura, y como hice el dibujo en distintos momentos se nota bastante la diferencia de luces por las horas del dia, totalmente dispares. La parte baje de la corona de laureles fue un poco mas sencilla porque casi toda era negra.

Face-Front / Rostro-Frente.

The forehead area had quite folds, but almost all of its grays were very clear, and it was easy to draw them.

El área de la frente tenia bastante pliegues, pero casi todos sus grises eran muy claros, y fue fácil dibujarlos.

Face-Eyes / Rostro-Ojos.

With my eyes I had to apply more chiaroscuro and make it stronger because it required a lot of depth and several nuances.

Con los ojos si tuve que aplicar mas claroscuro y hacerlo mas fuerte pues requeria de mucha profundidad y varios matices.

Face-Nose and mouth /Rostro-Nariz y boca.

Face-Chin and neck / Rostro-Barbilla y cuello.

Rocker moment!

The chin was an important part because the chin had to be enhanced to give the effect of the look from below, then, first draw with a 4H pencil and leave the light spaces (very important) then pencil the 8B to the left-lower part from the neck because that was where the most powerful black was.

La barbilla fue parte importante pues tenia que realzarse el mentón para dar el efecto de la mirada desde abajo, entonces, primero dibujo con un lápiz 4H y deje los espacios de luz(muy importante)luego aplique el lápiz 8B a la parte izquierda-baja del cuello pues allí era donde estaba el negro mas potente.
