Saludos amigos de la comunidad SWC
Greetings friends of the communitySWC
---
Hello friends, how are you? I hope you're all doing very well and that you've had an excellent and productive day. I'm doing great, thank God—extremely tired, to be honest, since I’ve barely rested in the past three days. And today I competed in the VS by category, and wow… I ended up completely exhausted. But I’ll tell you more about that in a moment.
To start, I’ll tell you about my day like always. Today was pretty busy, to be honest. I woke up early with my teammates, and right away we had to head down to the hotel lobby to wait for the bus that would take us to Lara State, Barquisimeto, where the competition was being held. We hit the road, and after a while we made a stop so the athletes could use the bathroom. I took the chance to grab some empanadas with my friends. Once we finished eating, we got back on the bus and continued the trip. Around noon, we arrived at the Sambil in Barquisimeto.
When we got there, there weren’t many athletes ready to compete, and that didn’t worry me. But after about half an hour, a lot of local athletes started showing up, and that did make me a bit nervous—because there was going to be a draw to decide who would compete. There were only 10 spots available per category: amateur, semi-pro, and professional.
Like I said, I was really nervous because in the amateur category there were around 21 of us, and only 10 would get to compete. But I went through the registration process, and in the end, I got picked in the draw and was able to participate.
After the draw for each category, we did a short stretching session with a physical therapist, and then we started warming up freely on the bars. I used that time to test out some of my combos and try the “ballerina,” a dynamic move I wasn’t sure I could pull off since I wasn’t feeling my best. And well, once the warm-up ended, we jumped straight into the qualifiers.
My combo was:
4 seconds of front lever one arm + 3 seconds of back lever + back press with hold + 4 seconds of wide supine front lever hold.
Then I moved to the parallel bars and did a straddle planche hold. That was my first round.
I also felt super motivated by VĂctor Allendes, since he was our judge—and wow, it was incredible having him there. But I’ll keep telling you more about this amazing experience in my next post.
