Wednesday was a nice day before the rains hit. We hiked up to Rattlesnake Cliffs above Lake Dunmore in Addison County, Vermont.

The hike is 4 miles out and back with a 1400 feet elevation gain and considered a moderately hard route. But the view is great ๐

Fall foliage is definitely past peak. Tops of the mountains are bare. Lower down near the lake the leaves are still looking good.

Pano shows the length of Lake Dunmore. Its about 3 miles long.

You can also see Silver Lake and Fern Lake. And maybe Mud Lake but I couldn't find it today. Mud Lake is more of a wet lands and probably pretty low given the drought we are experiencing.

Lots of leaf covered trails and some exposed rock as you get higher up. Fortunately its been a dry stretch. Hiking this time of year can be tricky when the leaves are wet. It can get quite slippery.

Fern Lake is second lake, centered in the background here past Lake Dunmore. They are separated by a ridge left over from the glacial period. Thanks for sharing my hike ๐
