This is a topic I have thought about for a very long time. It is a very controversial one too. I have always been of the idea that you should always try to mind your business. You know, try not to interfere as it doesn't concern you, bla bla bla, but I have learned through recent years that we have way more responsibility than just accepting what is given. Just like practically anything to humanity, there are two sides to this coin.
So here is the thing, when people break rules and try to exploit people they usually do it out of selfishness, greed, or for some warped personal gain. Now the interesting part is that, when these set of people are allowed to get away with bending or breaking the rules they are in some way empowered. There are people who think, 'well, it's just something simple'; 'Well, it is not directly affecting me'; 'well, I can't stand up to that person because I have so much to lose', etc. Those are just a few reasons why people tend to take the backseat and just allow wrong to go on, but I have realized we shouldn't allow these things to go on. We shouldn't allow people to get away with cheating. When they are allowed, they tend to dominate and take everything. We all have a moral obligation to object when rules are being broken. We all have that moral obligation to object when people cheat the system, etc. I tell you, it is pretty easy to bend the rules to ones favor. It's like scamming people. Have you ever wondered why people scam people? The easy answer is that they are bad people but that's not really it. It is actually a lot of work to steal than it is to work legitimately. These folks are ready to put their life and reputation on the line. It is because It is difficult to be good. It is not easy. Don't for one reason think being good is easy. It takes a strong person to be good. And I don't just mean mental strength, physical strength included. Learn to object. Learn to call out wrong and injustice. Learn to stand up for what is truly right.
It is a tight rope to walk but is the rope that should be walked. You don't breeze through life on a ski jet. What truly makes life meaningful are the little battles we win and sufferings we experience.
> If you don't stand up for something, you will fall for anything.
