Patience Wearing Thin!

Humans are social animals, living with agreed-upon contracts. We make contacts, express ideas, share experiences using a specific medium of language - passed on by generations.

It means that we all are interconnected, but in this regard, there is a certain shift in society. We live in a modern world where every information is just a click away. Isn’t it amazing? Of course, it is. However, this shift is also damaging the very aspect of social being. In this ever-changing world, the social contract is also under transformation - one that is fading our patience, our ability to listen, our desire to grow.

These days everyone just waits for their turn to speak, because they have no interest in others opinions. Let’s say, if you get into a simple discussion over any topic. What do you think will happen? This simple discussion will turn into a war, where opinion is treated as an act of assault. If patience wears thin you are in trouble, otherwise, one may end the debate by saying, “You’re right!” out of frustration.

This rigidness in our ideas is killing diversity of thought. People, rather than listening and reflecting, react instantly leading to shallow conversations. This social change is quite visible when it comes to politics. The notion is simple, the harder you shout the more truthful and factual you sound.

Loudness has taken over wisdom.

A narcissistic attitude is the new King in the market. A place where every individual prioritizes self-expression and not giving a dam* about anything else. The young generation especially is caught in this loop. Social media gives them a stage, but not always the majority to perform with wisdom. In this race, they have even forgotten the basic norms of respect.

As French philosopher Voltaire once said, “Think for yourself and let others ejoy the privilege of doing so too.”

But sadly, the second half of his wisdom is ignored.

What we need is not mere voices, but better voices: calmer, thoughtful and empathetic. Imagine a world where instead of shouting competition, we compete to understand the deepest. By doing so, you are not doing some charity work, but you, too, are progressing this way. It will open many new pathways to search upon.

In the end, do not reject the truth (or opinion) just because it shakes the false comfort you have built.
