Hello, good morning! Welcome to my monthly grocery shopping adventure! Last August trip to the grocery was good because my brother came to shop with me. However, we went to the mall separately because he has to drop by another mall first. He only brought his motorcycle and didn't bring an extra helmet for me, therefore, we agreed to just meet at the grocery's entrance. I'm also scared riding a motorcycle. It feels like my butt would slip from the seat anytime.
I arrived first so I went to the pharmacy and also paid our bills while waiting for text message from my brother. Excuse my way of sitting. Haha. That's why I don't wear skirt!
When I was done, I went next to the department store to window shop while waiting for my brother. There were not much people around and I was able to freely move around while strategically avoiding the sales ladies. Lol. I was about to walk to the shoes area when my brother texted that he was already at the entrance.
He told me that he already ran out of load so I told him that we just meet after an hour at the grocery's exit. We shop with separate carts because it would be confusing later on at the cashier if we mix up our groceries. It also save us time to shop separately.
I went for the perishables this time for there were only few people around. This was my first time seeing an oddly-shaped grapes. Anyone of you have tried eating this type of grapes? What's the taste?
An hour later passed and I was almost done. I hurried to the imported goods to find a gochujang paste but can't find one so I proceeded to our meeting point instead where I found my brother already waiting. According to him, he was already waiting for 5 minutes. I told him I still have one more item on my list and he instructed me to leave my cart while I look for a gochujang paste. I circled the imported goods area several times but found none. It's funny that it got out of stock when it's time for me to purchase one while it's just there with plenty of stocks when I don't need it.
Most of the cashier lanes were empty and we were able to take different lanes so we could finish faster. You know, I was shocked to see the price of the two pieces of carrots I bought. Php 107 for two pieces. The heck! Lol. I usually don't check the prices of some vegetables anymore. Two carrots usually just costs around 30 to 55 pesos so I was really surprised with the price increase. I didn't expect it to be that much! I also saw on the news that inflation rate recently rose again to a few percent. Yikes!
After paying our groceries, I asked my brother that we eat lunch at the food court. I thought we would leave our carts at the baggage area but he pushed his cart opposite of the baggage area and continued down the ramp towards the direction of the food court. So here we are at the food court with our carts. The vacant table we found was just beside my favorite avocado ice cream stall. Hmmm, very tempting! But I'm saving up so maybe next time!
My brother bought the foods while I waited at the table.
I also noticed that all the chairs at the food court were two chairs stacked. Perhaps one chair is flimsy so they have to stack another. Or maybe the chair is too low and adding another would increase the height and make height just right with the table.
Okay, enough with the assumptions! The foods have arrived!
I told my brother to buy the food I ordered before, the barbecue meal with pancit bihon and drinks. I had been craving barbecue and I like the ones they serve here because it's bigger compared to the barbecues sold on the streets in our town.
We talk about a lot of things when we eat and one of it is anime. He talks a lot about solo leveling and demon slayer. He told me to watch the rest of the season so I could watch the upcoming film which I did. Lol. He was also recommending My Hero Academia.
We went home after eating our lunch and of course, I didn't forget to buy siomai for my dinner.
Despite the price increase on some products, my grocery expenses was still less than the previous. Hopefully, it gets the same or even lower for this month. I'm excited to share some new recipes soon!
Happy weekend! ✨️
