Hello to all the members of this community and sewing lovers! One of the things I like most about knowing how to sew is making my own clothes. In fact, everyone I tell that I can sew thinks I make all my own clothes. It's something I'd like to do, but for now, I only limit myself to making a few specific items, either due to a lack of materials or a desire to make a general change to my wardrobe 😅

But, before I learned to sew, or when I was just learning, I used to make a lot of clothing transformations with old clothes that were given to me or those I bought at garage sales. Nowadays, I still accept clothes from people if I see that they could be useful. In this case, I'll show you what I made with a pair of blue jeans that someone gave me ✨

The pants were in good condition, but they were too big for me. I could have used the fabric for a more elaborate project, like a bag or a jacket, but I preferred to turn them into shorts because I needed a new pair. I could have adjusted the pants to fit me... but I'm bored of wearing blue jeans. I only have one pair that fits me, and I wear it because my sister gave it to me for a birthday, so it's special 😆

🧵✂️✨ FROM PANTS TO SHORTS 🧵✂️✨

After washing it, I cut it to the desired length and hemmed it simply. I saved the excess fabric for future sewing projects where I'd want to use that type of fabric. It's a little loose around the waist (I'm a bit thin), but I preferred to leave it that way because I like to be comfortable when I'm walking a lot, and most of the time, I wear leggings underneath, so as long as the shorts don't feel like they're falling down, I don't see a problem haha.

🧵✂️✨DECORATED WITH LACE AND EMBROIDERY🧵✂️✨

I wouldn't have minded leaving it just like that, because I have a pair of similar shorts. But this time, I thought I'd decorate it and make it look prettier. To do so, I decided to sew on some lace and some flower-shaped embroidery I already had.

I sewed the large lace to the bottom where I made the hem, and used a smaller lace to cover the hem seam. Just like that, it looked even prettier ✨

But my intention was to use more lace, so I dared to place it in more daring areas, like the waistband and the edges of the front pockets. I really liked the result ✨

Finally, I sewed the flower embroidery on some corners, both on the front and back.

I couldn't resist and wore it like this. I verified that it fit super comfortably. My favorite part is still how the waistband looks with the lace. The button on the pants is covered by the lace, which makes it even more adorable ✨

🧵✂️✨ HAND EMBROIDERY 🧵✂️✨

...But, I felt like it could still be more decorated, so I ventured out and embroidered some branches and leaves. I'm not at all an expert at hand stitching, and I've mentioned in past posts that it's not my favorite type of stitching, haha, but I still like to try it since I know it's good for my patience. Not to mention, the hand-embroidered details look beautiful, so I'd like to be better at embroidering in the future.

That's how I did the hand embroidery, mentioning that some branches were coming out of the pots. I didn't have a pattern, so I was just inspired. I wanted to do something more elaborate, but embroidering this way takes twice as long when you're not an expert at it, and it gets stressful, like it did for me, haha. So, I left it like that for now ✨

Even though I'm already using it like this, maybe I'll try adding more lace or embroidering it—I don't know yet, haha. Or maybe I'll leave this one like this and decorate the next one more elaborately. As you can see, we can give another chance to those pieces that we think don't have room in our wardrobe 😇 And you? ¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de la costura! Una de las cosas que más me gusta de saber coser, es hacer mi propia ropa y de hecho, todo al que le comento que sé coser, piensa que me hago toda la ropa. Es algo que quisiera hacer, pero por los momentos, sólo me limito a hacer algunas prendas en específico, ya sea por falta de material o disposición para hacer un cambio general en mi guardarropa 😅

Pero, antes de que aprendiese a coser o cuando estaba apenas aprendiendo, solía hacer muchas transformaciones de ropa con la ropa vieja que me regalaban o la que compraba en ventas de garaje. En el presente, aún sigo aceptando la ropa que me quieran regalar si le veo que me puede ser de utilidad. En éste caso, les mostraré lo que hice con un pantalón de blue jeans que me obsequiaron ✨

El pantalón estaba en buenas condiciones, pero me quedaba muy grande. Podía usar la tela para algún proyecto más elaborado, como un bolso o una chaqueta, pero preferí volverlo un short, porque necesitaba uno nuevo. Podía haber ajustado el pantalón a mi medida... pero ya me aburrí de usar pantalones de blue jeans, tengo uno solo que me queda bien y lo uso porque mi hermana me lo regaló en un cumpleaños, así que, es especial 😆

🧵✂️✨ DE PANTALÓN A SHORT 🧵✂️✨

Luego de lavarlo, lo corté del largo deseado y le hice un dobladillo sencillo. La tela sobrante, la guardé para futuros proyectos de costura en dónde desee utilizar ese tipo de tela. En la cintura me queda algo holgado (soy algo delgada), pero preferí dejarlo así, porque me gusta estar cómoda cuando camino demasiado y la mayoría del tiempo, suelo usar una leggings debajo, así que, mientras el short no sienta que se me cae, no le veo problema jaja.

🧵✂️✨DECORADO CON ENCAJES Y BORDADOS🧵✂️✨

No hubiera tenido problema en dejarlo simplemente así, porque tengo un par de shorts parecidos. Pero en ésta ocasión pensé en decorarlo y hacer que luciera más lindo. Para ello, pensé en coserle un encaje y unos bordados en forma de flores que tenía.

El encaje grande lo cosí en la parte inferior, en donde hice el dobladillo y utilicé un encaje más pequeño para cubrir la costura del dobladillo. Ya solo así, se veía más lindo ✨

Pero mi intención era usar más encaje, así que me atrevía colocarle en zonas más arriesgadas, como en la pretina y en los bordes de los bolsillos delanteros. El resultado, me gustó muchísimo ✨

Finalmente, le cosí los bordados de las flores en unas esquinas, tanto en la parte delantera como en la trasera.

No aguanté y lo utilicé así. Verificando que me quedaba súper cómodo. Mi parte favorita, sigue siendo cómo se ve la pretina con el encaje. El botón del pantalón queda cubierto por el encaje, lo cual lo hace más encantador ✨

🧵✂️✨ BORDADOS A MANO 🧵✂️✨

...Pero, sentía que aún podía decorarse más, así que me aventuré por bordarle algunas ramas y hojas. No soy para nada experta en costura a mano y he mencionado en posts pasados, que no es mi tipo de costura favorita jaja pero aún así, me gusta intentarlo, ya que sé que es bueno para la paciencia, sin mencionar que los detalles bordados a mano, se ven preciosos, así que me gustaría poder bordar mejor en el futuro.

De esa forma, realicé los bordados a mano, haciendo mención de que algunas ramas salían de las macetas. No tenía ningún patrón, así que simplemente me inspiré, quería hacer algo más elaborado, pero bordar de esta forma lleva el doble de tiempo cuando no eras experta en ello y te gana el estrés, como a mí jaja así que, lo dejé así por los momentos ✨

A pesar de que ya lo estoy usando así, tal vez me atreva a colocarle más encaje o hacerle más bordados, aún no lo sé jaja o a lo mejor, pueda que deje éste así y decore más elaborado el siguiente. Como pueden ver, se le puede dar otra oportunidad a las prendas que pensamos, no tienen espacio en nuestro guardarropa 😇 ¿Y ustedes? ¿Se han animado a hacer sus propias intervenciones de ropa? ✨
