Hello to all members of this community, anime and cartoon lovers! Lately, I've been drawn to watching retro anime, as well as those anime I barely watched during my childhood, because I found the plots and stories quite fascinating, dramatic, and even shocking. In the case of the drawing I'm here to show you today, it's a fan art of an anime called "Pollyana," which is based on a book of the same name. I have the book and I must say I loved it so much that it was my emotional pillar for a while. I had no idea it had an anime, so when I searched for information, I came across images that allowed me to see that version of the protagonist.

But what's so special about Pollyanna? Basically, she's a girl who, living in poverty, learned from her father to find the silver lining in everything that happened in her life through a game called "The I'm Glad Game," which involves finding reasons to be happy, like being able to eat delicious food, see beautiful landscapes, or simply being able to walk. It's quite moving as you read the book and become involved with the characters, seeing how Pollyanna offers that silver lining that helps everyone move forward. It's impossible not to be touched by this little girl's innocence and enthusiasm for everything.

For my drawing, I decided to go with watercolors, as I wanted a delicate result and felt inspired to do some sort of portrait. I drew the sketch on my notepad with a mechanical pencil, depicting Pollyanna with her huge smile, accompanied by her little squirrel (I don't remember that squirrel in the book, but in the anime, it's the girl's emotional support). This would be the first time I'd drawn a face with watercolors, and even though it was animated, I wasn't entirely sure of the outcome, haha. Still, I decided to paint it as if I were using acrylic paints.

On the cover of the book I have, as well as in the films, Pollyanna is blonde, although in this manga version, she's portrayed as brown-haired. So I painted her hair a mix of both. I used mustard the most in the drawing, lightening it with more water and darkening it with a bit of brown. For her skin, I was almost certain I'd ruin the drawing haha, but luckily I didn't, and I was able to get a pretty nice color.

It was refreshing to paint their clothes because the deep red color looks amazing in my opinion, but my favorite part was definitely painting the eyes. I tried to give them a deeper effect, so they would stand out. For the eyeliner, I used the brown watercolor directly, diluting it very slightly, and also using it for the shadows. I wasn't going to go into detail about the hair... but I started by drawing a line and ended up filling the hair with them, haha, but it was very therapeutic.

For the background, I liked the idea of ​​adding some flowers, as part of Pollyanna's country setting, taking advantage of using colors like pink or yellow with greater intensity, under a blue tone.

And finally, I used white paint to add some highlights. I loved the result, so much so that I've been inspired to make other anime characters that I like 🌺

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad, amantes del anime y de los dibujos! Últimamente he sentido atracción por ver animes retro, así como aquellos animes que apenas pude mirar durante mi infancia, pues, considero que las tramas e historias eran bastante fascinantes, dramáticas y hasta impactantes. En el caso del dibujo que vengo a mostrarles el día de hoy, se trata de un fanart de un anime llamado "Pollyana", el cual está basado en un libro del mismo nombre. Yo tengo el libro y debo decir que me encantó, tanto, que fue mi pilar emocional durante un tiempo. No tenía idea de que tenía anime, así que al buscar información, me hallé con imágenes que me permitieron ver esa versión de la protagonista.

Pero ¿Qué tiene de especial Pollyana? Básicamente, es una niña que viviendo en carencias, aprendió de su padre a conseguirle lo bueno a todo lo que sucedía en su vida, mediante un juego que llamaron "El juego de estoy alegre", el cual trata de hallar motivos por los cuales alegrarse, como poder comer algo delicioso, ver paisajes lindos o simplemente, el hecho de poder caminar. Es bastante emotivo cuando vas leyendo el libro y te involucras con los personajes, viendo como Pollyana va ofreciendo ese lado positivo que ayuda a todos a seguir adelante. Es imposible no sentirse enternecido por la inocencia y entusiasmo de esa niña por todo.

Para mi dibujo, decidí optar por las acuarelas, ya que deseaba obtener un resultado delicado y me sentía animada de hacer una especie de retrato. Dibujé con portaminas el boceto en mi block, siendo Pollyana con su enorme sonrisa, acompañada de su pequeña ardilla (no recuerdo esa ardilla en el libro, pero en el anime, es un apoyo emocional de la niña). Esta sería la primera vez que dibujaría con acuarelas un rostro y aunque fuese animado, no tenía mucha seguridad del resultado jaja aún así, decidí pintarlo como si estuviera utilizando pinturas acrílicas.

En la portada del libro que tengo, así como en las películas, Pollyana es rubia, aunque en esta versión del manga, se le retrató pelicastaña. Así que le pinté el cabello de una mezcla de ambos. El color mostaza fue el que más utilicé en el dibujo, aclarándolo con más agua y oscureciéndolo con un poco de marrón. Para la piel, estaba casi segura de que arruinaría el dibujo jaja pero, para mi suerte no fue así y pude obtener un color bastante bonito.

Fue refrescante pintar su ropa, porque el color rojo intenso se ve increíble a mi parecer, pero sin duda, así parte favorita, fue pintar los ojos. Traté de darles un efecto más profundo, para que fuesen llamativos. Para el delineado, utilicé directamente la acuarela de color marrón, diluyéndola muy poco, usándola también para las sombras. No iba a ponerme a detallar el cabello... pero comencé haciendo una línea y acabé llenando la cabellera de ellas jaja pero fue muy terapéutico.

Para el fondo, me gustó la idea de agregar algunas flores, como parte del entorno campestre de Pollyanna, aprovechando para utilizar colores como el rosado o el amarillo con mayor intensidad, bajo un tono azulado.

Y para finalizar, utilicé la pintura blanca para darle unos toques de luz. Me encantó el resultado, tanto que me he motivado a hacer otros personajes de anime que sean de mi agrado 🌺
