Hello, my lovely friends.

When life hangs in the balance, an unexpected experience in the emergency room. All of our lives have moments where things change in the blink of an eye, and for me, yesterday afternoon was a moment when my normalcy was severely shaken. It all began quietly. My mother's familiar snoring in the afternoon became an alarming warning I couldn't ignore. It wasn't just any snoring, but a loud, unusual sound that made me rush to investigate. The sight nearly stopped my heart. My mother was having a violent seizure, her eyes wide open and staring at the ceiling in terror. Panic immediately overtook me, my hands shaking, but my instincts told me to do something. I ran out to call my neighbor and at the same time call an ambulance.

The ambulance arrived quickly, as if every second counted. The journey to the hospital was a nerve-wracking one. The first ambulance seemed insufficiently equipped, so the medical team quickly coordinated to request another ambulance to supplement the journey. The image of nurses administering oxygen and IV fluids to my mother in the moving vehicle is still etched in my mind to this day.

A Long Night at Trang Hospital: Hope and Anxiety

When we arrived at Trang Hospital at 3:30 PM, my feelings were a mix of relief at the doctor's arrival and anxiety about my mother's future. I paced around the emergency room anxiously, awaiting updates from the doctors. The long wait lasted for several hours, until 8:30 PM when the doctor arrived to give me a preliminary report. Half an hour later, at 9:00 PM, a nurse arrived to inform me that my mother would be admitted to the hospital.

Shortly after, a wheelchair was pushed out of the emergency room. Everyone was relieved to see that she was looking better. Moving her to the patient's room was another time of patience. We had to take the elevator twice to get to the third floor and then to the seventh floor, which was a separate building. When we arrived, the nurses meticulously prepared everything, including moving her from the wheelchair to the bed, changing her into hospital clothes, and installing the necessary medical equipment.

During the medical history, we provided the nurse with crucial information. I explained that my mother was bedridden but had no underlying medical conditions. All we could do was wait for the doctor to arrive and perform a thorough examination. The Big Decision: Treating Her Symptoms or Using Life Support? When the doctor arrived, he explained that treatment options might require a ventilator and tube feeding. These were options we weren't ready to make immediately, as my husband's sister, another pillar of our family, was traveling urgently from Koh Phangan. The lengthy journey required us to ask the doctor for more time to discuss. While waiting, my mother had another seizure, and fear gripped my heart once more. But soon, the doctor ordered my mother to be moved to a more intensive care unit. This new ward had strict rules, allowing only one family member to stay with her. Finally, my husband's sister arrived at the hospital. We spent some time with the doctor and the doctor. Everyone agreed that we didn't want my mother to undergo surgery or have life support. We wanted to receive only the necessary treatment.

The doctor understood our decision and gave us time to reconsider. Ultimately, we agreed that my youngest sister would be my mother's caregiver for the night.

Before we parted ways, I explored the surrounding area and took the opportunity to take pictures of Trang's picturesque cityscape from the seventh-floor balcony. The sight of Trang's night lights stretching out below was a strangely soothing sight for my weary mind.

I will come back to update my mother's condition for my friends again. For today, I must say goodbye for now, my friends. See you again next time. Thank you for following and supporting me.
