Hello everyone

For dinner yesterday, I'd like to present a delicious and satisfying dish that my whole family enjoyed: Sour Shrimp and Papaya Curry. The papayas in the garden were starting to ripen and had yellow spots, so I immediately wanted to make sour curry. So, I went to pick some fresh papayas from the tree and made it for dinner.

This Southern Thai curry dish is full of flavor, boasting sour, sweet, salty, creamy, and spicy elements from the curry paste. It's so delicious you'll want more rice! Today, I'm sharing the recipe and detailed steps, along with a few tips, so you can give it a try.

Recipe and method for making sour shrimp and papaya curry

This dish takes little time to prepare and is very easy to make. For the shrimp, today I'm using peeled and previously frozen shrimp. I originally intended to use them for a restaurant meal, but since my mother wasn't well, I decided to use them for my mother and family instead.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized raw papaya
  • 200 grams fresh shrimp (peeled, deveined, and deveined)
  • 3-4 tablespoons red curry paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1-2 teaspoons palm sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2-3 tablespoons lime juice (or tamarind juice)
  • 2-3 cups water
  • A pinch of salt

How to do it

  • Prepare the ingredients: Peel the raw papaya and remove the filling. Then cut it into bite-sized pieces as shown in the picture. It should not be cut too thin because it will get messy. As for the shrimp, it must be washed and cleaned. Set aside to drain.

  • Dissolve the curry paste: Bring water to a boil, then gradually add the red curry paste to the pot and stir until dissolved.

  • Seasoning: Once the curry paste has dissolved, season with palm sugar and fish sauce. Stir to combine. Taste for saltiness and spiciness. Add lime juice (or tamarind juice) for a sour taste.

  • Add the papaya: Once the broth boils again, add the prepared papaya and simmer until the papaya begins to soften and is cooked.

  • Add the shrimp: Once the papaya is tender, add the shrimp to the pot. Shrimp cook very quickly. Wait until the shrimp turn a bright orange and are nicely curled. Do not overcook the shrimp, as this will make the meat tough.

  • Serving: Turn off the heat, ladle the shrimp and papaya curry into a bowl and serve with hot steamed rice. It's absolutely delicious!

Shrimp and Papaya Curry is an easy, delicious, and nutritious dish. It also makes the most of readily available ingredients. I hope you'll give this recipe a try.

For today, I must take my leave, my friends. See you next time. Thank you for following and supporting me. Thank you very much.
