😊 Yesterday at Palm Court: Harvesting the Pride 🌴

Hello, my lovely friends.

In this post, I'd like to share the proud story and sweat-inducing activity my husband and I had yesterday. That activity was harvesting palm oil from "Palm Court," our oil palm plantation. 🌴

πŸ’– Teamwork in the Afternoon 🌴

We started our palm-cutting mission in the late afternoon, almost evening, when the weather wasn't too hot. This was the perfect time for me to harvest. My husband expertly handled the cutting, and it was noticeably faster and more accurate this time than before. Meanwhile, I played the role of a professional harvester and transporter, collecting the palm bunches he had cut and the fallen palms indicating their maturity. (Normally, ripe palms will have some fallen fruit to prevent bruising and ensure they are ready for shipment to the factory by 5:00 PM, which is an important standard.)

🌴Palm Conquering Mission: A Day of Satisfactory Production and Good PricesπŸ’°

The rush to harvest the crop within a limited timeframe, working in a hurry to meet demand, took us over an hour in the orchard. Each sharp scythe against the palm bunches signaled our determination to harvest the highest quality produce.

🚧A Little Difficulty Along the Way: Tires and a Tricycle

After harvesting the palms, we hurried on our tricycle to the buying point. While driving, a familiar feeling told us something was wrong. "The tires are squeaking," my husband said as we both noticed that the front and rear tires on the tricycle seemed to be low on air. When our gut told us, we didn't hesitate. We parked the car and went to check it out. I guarantee our intuition was right: the rear tire on the tricycle was very low on air. After checking and taking photos of the work environment to share with you, we immediately planned our next move. We stopped at a repair shop along the way to refill the tires.

πŸ›΅ Transport Mission: A Sidecar and the Power You Need 🌴

We used our trusty sidecar as our primary vehicle for transporting our produce this time. However, due to the orchard's uneven terrain and uneven entrances and exits, the sidecar could only reach certain areas. This led to the use of classic accessories like sacks and buckets, which became heroes, helping us reach palm bunches in the corners where vehicles couldn't reach. In the more remote areas, I had to carry the heavy palm oil produce myself. It was a truly effective workout, lifting weights, sweating, and working out. It definitely helped me stay strong.

🌴 The Joy That Comes with Changed Plans

Before arriving, I had already planned to bring a machete to trim the overgrown bamboo along the edge of the garden, which might have blocked the palm trees' sunlight, so that our palm trees would receive the most light and maximize their yield. However, my plan had to be quickly changed. My husband's skill and speed at cutting palms left me with little time to follow through. Every second was spent collecting and transporting the palms, racing against the backdrop of the late afternoon.

Even though my plans had changed, working in the palm grove in the evening, seeing the beautiful red-orange produce filling the carts of my cart, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the lush greenery, were small joys that filled my heart and energy. Working together as a couple like this, although tiring, was fun, and filled with true pride in the produce we had created together.

Despite a few minor setbacks, we wasted no time in continuing our journey on our three-wheeled tricycle, fully loaded with produce. We stopped to refill the tires with air until they were safe for travel. Finally, we reached our destination, the palm oil purchasing yard. βš–οΈWeighing and delivering the produce

Upon arriving at the palm oil mill or palm oil receiving point, the first thing to do is park the tricycle on a large scale for a preliminary weighing. Afterward, when the bell or signal sounds, we drive to the palm oil unloading point. At the back, several staff members are waiting to greet us and prepare to unload palm oil quickly.

All the palm oil unloading workers are quickly unloaded from the tricycles. The unloading task is completed in no time. We drive the empty tricycle back to the scales to weigh the tricycle (load weight) to determine the exact weight of the palm oil.

✨The joy of satisfying results

The results of this hard work are truly satisfying. Although my palm trees are only a little over three years old, and naturally, the palm fruit bunches are small, we harvested 160 kilograms of palm oil this time, an impressive figure for palm trees of this age. Furthermore, yesterday's palm oil sales price was extremely high, reaching over 7 baht per kilogram, a very good price for the time being. Working together with my husband, solving impromptu problems along the way, and achieving both weight and price, all contributed to this successful work day. Our mission was successfully completed. It's time to go home with a smile and a little pride in my heart.

For today, I must say goodbye, my friends. See you again soon. Thank you for following and supporting me. Thank you very much. πŸ™πŸ’°
