I've been waiting patiently for the Orange and Yellow Citrus Jalapeno's to ripen just so I could make some bread. It is so delicious with just a hint of heat here and there. You will love it!
Jalapeno Cheese Bread
The Dough
2 1/2 cups bread flour 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup milk 3 Tbsp. butter 3 Tbsp. sugar 2 ¼ teaspoons dry yeast 1 tsp. salt 1 egg
The Filling
2-3 jalapenos, seeds removed, and finely chopped 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 tsp. garlic powder
If you want to, you could also make Bisquit's with this dough as well. I often do and put some into the freezer.
1- Heat the milk, water, butter, and sugar in a sauce pot. Let cool before adding the yeast to proof in the mixture.
2- Sift the dry ingredients together and then add the cheese, mixing well.
3- Add the Jalapenos and stir well to incorporate them throughout the dough.
4- Flour the counter and knead the dough until smooth. 5- Place it into a bowl covered with a towel and let rise until doubled in size.
7- Punch down the dough, roll it into a log, and divide it into your loaf pans. Place a few more jalapenos on top and sprinkle with a little more cheese.
8- Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise until it doubles once again. Bake the bread in a pre-heated 375°F. oven 25-35 minutes, depending on the size of your loaf pans. A toothpick inserted in the middle comes out dry when done.
Can you imagine how scrumptious this bread tastes not to forget to mention how wonderful the aroma is? I hope you get a chance to enjoy this recipe for yourself.
