I am a little bit late on ordering my seeds this 2023 season but some of them are beginning to arrive. I thought it was about time for me to start organizing them and deciding which ones I will actually be growing this spring.
I grew all three of the above last year and was very pleased with the bounty they produced. The citrus varieties did not turn color until late into the summer and early fall. However, they were very tasty and a lot hotter than I expected them to be.
Hot Peppers

I love growing a variety of hot peppers every year since we love homemade hot sauce and pickled jalapeno peppers. I found so many canning recipes last fall that used many of these peppers so I am going to grow them next season. Of course, it is always nice when your son's family asks for them too.
Sweet Peppers
I grow over 75 sweet pepper plants every year of different varieties and love dehydrating some, as well as, freezing them for use during the long winter months. I am looking forward to growing the Rewia and Poblano this season as I have not grown them before.
Asian Veggies
My family loves cabbage and leafy greens so a lot of my garden space is taken up with many different and healthy greens to enjoy. I always grow Chinese cabbage so that I can make plenty of "Kimchee" for ourselves and my Korean daughter-in-law. She always appreciates it when I grow Asian veggies for her and the grandkids. What are families for if not to share the bounty with their loved ones?
Even though I have never grown Kohlrabi, Parsnip, or Cauliflower before I figured it was time to try some new veggies this year. I hope that I managed to do these seeds justice and get a nice crop for my efforts.
I am even thinking about putting in a few more raised garden beds just for cold-weather root crops. Although, I suppose if I harvest most of my peppers early enough I could use the raised bed for fall cropping. I do think that I would have to put the polytunnel over it though to make sure the plants don't get ruined by the early frosts.
Salad Greens
Our household can go through a lot of greens and I always enjoy a large variety of leafy greens. Usually, since I do grow hydroponically in my greenhouse starting in late February, I am able to get a jumpstart on all the lettuce we can consume. I will keep a good track record this season and be sure to show you my progress in doing so.
Dark Greens
I did grow both of these greens last year and I must say the Beni Houshi Mizuna was very prolific in supplying fresh produce way into the late fall.
I actually dehydrated a lot of them along with some other greens to make a "Super Greens" powder to add to my savory dishes. No one ever suspects that they are getting some great nutrition from these powdered greens. This is a wonderful way to add nutrients to your family's meals especially if you have finicky children.
So Many Seeds, Oh My!
So, I did go through all of my packets of seeds, mostly which I save from my garden every year, and did end up throwing out 2020'2 and 2021's seeds. I had so many saved from last year's harvest that I knew I would never use them all. I do not have that much space to grow as many veggies as I have seeds, so this year I am going to rotate my crops. I put up a ton of veggies last summer and fall so my pantry is quite happy at the moment, lol.
I am still totally undecided about which ones should take priority this coming growing season. Are any of you out there in cyberland having the same dilemma as I am? Hopefully, I will make up my mind soon as it is almost time to start many of my long-season seeds soon.
