I've been enjoying playing around in Ableton Live Lite recently to get more of a raw blues tone - I feel like this is more of a typical 'strat' style tone, like SRV! But, it sounds cool on the Les Paul, of course :)
I'm liking these lower gain tones for jams, it improves clarity but also changes up my playing without wanting to just run through scales as a fast pace.
Also, I had only listened to this track for about the first 30 seconds before trying to rock a jam over it, so I was pleasantly surprised at around 00:58 when the dynamics changed and I had to shift my playing! That is what I love about an improv jam, is just letting yourself go with the flow :)
