"Not to teach a man who is willing to learn is to waste a man."

Confucio

A few days ago, a friend of mine bought a guitar and has been taking private lessons to develop the necessary skills to master this instrument. Learning to play the guitar isn’t as easy as some say, but it’s also not hard, much less impossible, it just takes a lot of patience and dedication, and that’s something not everyone is willing to give, even when the result will be very rewarding. My friend thinks he isn’t making progress and asked me to do him the favor of giving him a guitar lesson to see if he could get more familiar or understand the different exercises and a bit of theory better with me. I gladly agreed, since at some point when I was starting out, I also felt the same way, stuck and wasting time. That’s why I’ve really enjoyed giving guitar lessons this weekend.

Why do I do it?... Teaching is something I do with passion, and even though it’s my first time giving guitar lessons, it excites me because it’s something I’d like to do in the future as well. Plus, this way I also get to practice, develop skills, and, above all, gain experience in this area. It also allows me to apply my methodological knowledge as a teacher to music, but most importantly, to try to motivate my friend so he never stops learning. It brings me great comfort to be able to help and have a mutually enjoyable and productive experience, even though he still has a lot to learn. I’m sure we’ll soon be able to play together, and that’s even more rewarding.

Thank you very much to the community for this space, and I wish you all a wonderful week. Until next weekend.
