Hello throw back Thursday neighbours 😘😘😘,Trust you all are doing great nice to be here again this Thursday πŸ˜ŠπŸ™. Welcome to my blog I like to share a memory on the year my family almost lost my dad to prostate enlargement. I promise not to get emotional but share with the Joy that his alive and very well and counting down to his 77th Birthday birthday next year already 😁.

The date 2nd of December 2018 I can recall with thanksgiving in my heart. It was our Annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service in church and that year I was picked by the committee of the harvest to see to the cooking and other preparations for the event. So that saturday all we all slept in church to see to the cooking after we had changed the out look of the place😊.

We finished cooking in good time but I didn't leave for home I was waiting to see my parents come for service and my elder sister as well because we all worship in the same church but none of them were in church for sunday school. so I headed home hoping I don't miss them on my way as I didn't go with my own keys to the house. On getting home I saw a sight πŸ˜” I couldn't bear my father was already on catheter and my other siblings were already in the house. Nobody called me because I was on duty in church and as I tried to sit down and ask questions I was told to go get dress and go for the Thanksgiving Service that there wasn't anything I could do there at the moment. I didn't argue I obeyed because I was already chatting my medical friends and asking them questions.

Before I got to church my mother had called our pastor and told him of all that was happening so the congregation knew before I got back and they were now trying to give me a pity party.. I said to them no, my father will be fine today is for us to thank God so let's thank Him. Everyone around me was surprised and were asking are you sure. And I said yes then the pictures started rolling and dancing because honestly there wasn't anything anyone could do but just let God take his Glory.

The next day being a Monday we headed to the general hospital so he could see a doctor as advised by my medical friends. His BP had gone and they had to watch him for the day. We got another catheter which the doctor asked us to get and my dad was placed on medication pending further test results. We were to change the catheter every 2 or 3 weeks as instructed by the doctor.

We were doing all that until one day a good family friend from church came to visit and suggested that we go natural and sent us and address to Ikorodu this was in the month of February we went there and the natural doctor changed my father's meal and asked us to stop all medications and also started doing acupuncture on him.

This continued till the month of March when there was a complication after we got home. My father noticed his urine was turning red and showed me. I called the doctor she said they changed the needle for the acupuncture I screamed. Ma you changed needle Ke!!! That means the needle has punctured a vein around that region. There wasn't anything she could do from the phone so I called our family nurse to come long story short we were referred back to general hospital by 12am in an ambulance.

We got there and they wanted me to run all sort of test before I knew it. It was already 3am and our family nurse had to leave as she was to work in the morning I was grateful to her as she helped me so I didn't have to do all the running around alone.

At 3am my father was stable. We had to get another bigger catheter to make the blood clots come out easily but that would be in the morning for them to make him stable that night they had to pump him. That night I saw another life someone want to wee but what was coming out was hot pooo uncontrollable. Finally that was sorted in the morning I went to get the bigger size as instructed by the doctors. We were in the emergency ward for a week then they came to move us to the men's ward. We both objected because we had lost my younger brother there we asked to be discharged before then we had agreed that we will go to a private hospital to remove the gland so it doesn't turn cancerous. We found a hospital one week coming back home and on the 18th of April my father was admitted into one of the best hospital in Lagos.

We left the hospital 22nd of June. Our stay was great the operation was very successful and other tests were carried out no Cancer. Then I started educating everyone I can talk to about prostrate. You are a man once you are 50 years old please go for check up and be sure the gland isn't growing or enlarging that's when. You can take medication that will shrink it or reduce it to normal size. For me I learnt the hard way but everyone shouldn't. Information is Power Knowledge helps in preventing further damage. Thankful for life!!!! Honestly I appreciate the administrative team of this community thanks for giving us a platform to look back and share our lives experiences πŸ™ ❀️ ❀️ ❀️
