Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Yo, particularmente, todavía no me encuentro con grandes ánimos, pero ya veremos cómo resolvemos eso, ya que este fin de semana tendremos que darle duro a la universidad: demasiadas actividades acumuladas (si me permites aclarar un poco, aunque dejemos este tema para después).
Hoy hago este post pensando en ti, querido lector, donde muchas veces nos ocurre que no sabemos qué ver, no sabemos qué obra puede ser buena o qué merece la pena. Todos tenemos el miedo de ver algo mucho tiempo para que, al final, el resultado sea mediocre. Me pasa a mí, nos pasa a todos.
Por lo que esta vez les he preparado algo muy especial: unas tres obras que recomiendo encarecidamente. No todas son un 10/10, pero son muy entretenidas y quizás no las hayas visto antes, por lo que puedes darles una oportunidad. El orden es bastante sencillo: el puesto número uno evidentemente es la mejor recomendación, algo que deberías ver sí o sí; las otras dependen de si te interesa la trama o el género.
Así que, sin más dilación, comencemos con este top 3 de recomendaciones.
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? How are you feeling today? I hope you're doing well. Personally, I’m still not in the best of spirits, but we’ll see how we sort that out, as this weekend we’ll have to work hard for university—far too many piled-up assignments (if I may clarify a bit, though let’s leave that topic for later).
Today, I’m making this post with you in mind, dear reader, where we often find ourselves not knowing what to watch, unsure which piece might be good or worth our time. We all fear spending too long on something only for it to turn out mediocre—it happens to me, it happens to everyone.
So this time, I’ve prepared something very special: three works I highly recommend. Not all are 10/10, but they’re highly entertaining, and you might not have seen them before, so why not give them a chance? The order is quite simple: the number one spot is obviously the best recommendation, something you *must* watch; the others depend on whether the plot or genre interests you.
So without further ado, let’s begin with this top 3 recommendations list.
# Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

A este anime le tengo especial cariño, mi primer anime de Gundam y excelente si quieres adentrarte a la saga y al género mecha. También la considero pionera para la época moderna de Gundam, entregando una serie seria que no se veía en mucho tiempo. Lo único malo que podría encontrarle a este anime es que se presentan problemas que se resuelven muy rápido, no hay tanto desarrollo; supongo que quisieron abarcar mucho pero había poco tiempo, lo cual la consideraría ambiciosa de su parte.
La historia nos pone en la piel de Mikazuki, un niño soldado que es oprimido (por adultos) junto a sus similares; él lo único que sabe hacer es pilotar el mecha Barbatos hasta sacarle su máximo partido: es una máquina de guerra. Un día, en la empresa donde trabajan, estalla un conflicto donde tendrán la oportunidad de revelarse contra sus opresores para luego crear su propia compañía de seguridad.
Cabe mencionar que nuestro protagonista y sus compañeros son marcianos, los cuales son vistos como basura por la sociedad debido a que la Tierra tiene el control sobre ellos. Con ayuda de una activista marciana que se interesa en ellos, tomarán la labor de liberar a su tan preciado Marte. Todo esto nos da una historia llena de temas políticos, que nos muestra la crueldad de la guerra y la triste realidad de los niños soldados (donde no saben expresar sus sentimientos, solo saben batallar; incluso cosas como leer y escribir son desconocidas para ellos).
Este Gundam es un buen punto de partida para luego continuar con *Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury*.
I hold a special fondness for this anime - my first Gundam series and an excellent entry point into the franchise and the mecha genre. I also consider it a pioneer for modern-era Gundam, delivering a serious tone that hadn't been seen in quite some time. The only flaw I'd note is that some conflicts resolve too abruptly, with limited development; I suspect they aimed for grand scope but faced time constraints, making it ambitious yet imperfect.
The story puts us in the shoes of Mikazuki, a child soldier oppressed (by adults) alongside his peers. His sole skill is piloting the Barbatos mecha to its absolute limit - it's a pure war machine. When a conflict erupts at their corporate employer, they seize the chance to revolt against their oppressors and later establish their own security firm.
Notably, our protagonist and his comrades are Martians, viewed as vermin by Earth-controlled society. With help from a Martian activist who takes interest in them, they undertake the mission to liberate their beloved Mars. This creates a narrative steeped in political themes, exposing war's brutality and the grim reality of child soldiers (who lack emotional expression, knowing only combat - even basics like literacy are alien to them).
This Gundam serves as a perfect gateway before continuing with Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
# Angel Beats!

Podría afirmar fácilmente que esta es la mejor de Jun Maeda hasta la fecha. Luego habían otras obras como Charlotte que estaban entretenidas pero no tenían sentido, pero simplemente Angel Beats es la mejor. Lástima lo que le pasó a Jun Maeda con The Day I Became a God, donde la gente tenía un hype tremendo: no cumplió las expectativas, lo mataron a críticas y tuvo que desaparecer por un tiempo hasta que lanzó un gacha que, técnicamente, es una especie de continuación de Angel Beats o algo por el estilo.
El anime nos pone en la piel de Otonashi, un chico que de repente despierta en una especie de limbo, donde hay un frente armado que se enfrenta a un ser denominado como Ángel. Lo que tienen en común todos los estudiantes es que parecen estar muertos, ya que en este mundo pueden sufrir, sentir dolor, pero en el caso de que lleguen a la muerte, reaparecerán en el mismo mundo como si nada hubiese pasado.
Conforme pasa la historia, nos daremos cuenta de las verdaderas intenciones de Ángel y que no era tan mala como se había planteado al inicio. Además, se irá descubriendo cuáles fueron las maneras en que murieron cada uno de los personajes en su vida anterior. Podría considerar esta como una bonita historia llena de acción a ratos, que si te descuidas en algún momento estarás llorando, además de que cuenta con un excelente y memorable opening.
I could easily claim this is Jun Maeda's best work to date. There were other titles like Charlotte that were entertaining but didn't make much sense - but Angel Beats is simply superior. It's such a shame what happened with The Day I Became a God - people had tremendous hype, it failed to meet expectations, got absolutely slaughtered by critics, and Maeda had to disappear for a while until he released a gacha game that's technically some sort of Angel Beats continuation, or so I've heard.
The anime puts us in the shoes of Otonashi, a boy who suddenly wakes up in a kind of limbo where there's an armed faction fighting against a being called Angel. What all the students share is that they appear to be dead - in this world they can suffer and feel pain, but if they die, they'll just reappear in the same world as if nothing happened.
As the story progresses, we learn Angel's true intentions weren't as bad as initially presented. We gradually discover how each character died in their previous life too. I'd consider this a beautiful story with bursts of action that'll have you crying when you least expect it - plus it's got an absolutely brilliant and memorable opening theme.
# Summer Time Rendering

¿Qué puedo decir acerca de este anime? Solo cosas buenas porque, para mí, estamos ante uno de los mejores animes de la historia más reciente, una joya totalmente infravalorada debido a que salió en Disney, haciendo que casi nadie la viera. Cuenta con una trama totalmente atrapante, llena de misterio y con peleas tanto físicas como intelectuales que son totalmente épicas. La animación cumple de principio a fin, haciendo que, en conjunto, todo te mantenga atrapado y enganchado a la pantalla desde el capítulo 1 hasta el final. Solo vas a querer ver uno tras otro tras otro.
El anime nos pone en la piel de Shinpei, quien se entera del fallecimiento de su amiga de la infancia llamada Ushio, por lo que emprenderá un viaje a la isla que lo vio crecer para asistir al funeral. Pero cosas extrañas se irán sintiendo, lo que hará pensar a Shinpei que la muerte de Ushio no fue solo casualidad. Por debajo corren los rumores de doppelgängers, gente que se ve similar unas a otras pero con objetivos malvados. Shinpei, tarde o temprano, tendrá que enfrentar el verdadero significado de esos rumores y resolver el misterio de la muerte de Ushio, usando la habilidad que se le fue concedida al llegar a la isla, donde no puede morir al estar encerrado en un bucle temporal que se va cortando poco a poco. Una vez alcanzado el borde, morirá de verdad.
¿Podrá Shinpei resolver el misterio y salvar a la isla que lo vio nacer de los extraños seres? Esa es la pregunta. Una obra maestra, déjame decirte.
What can I say about this anime? Only good things, because in my opinion, we're looking at one of the best anime of recent history - a completely underrated gem that went largely unnoticed because it was released on Disney+. It features an utterly gripping plot full of mystery, with both physical and intellectual battles that are absolutely epic. The animation delivers consistently from start to finish, creating a package that keeps you completely hooked to the screen from Episode 1 right through to the end. You'll just want to watch one episode after another.
The anime puts us in the shoes of Shinpei, who learns about the death of his childhood friend Ushio and returns to the island where he grew up to attend her funeral. But strange occurrences begin to make Shinpei suspect Ushio's death wasn't just accidental. Underneath it all run rumours of doppelgängers - people who look identical to others but have sinister motives. Sooner or later, Shinpei will have to confront the true meaning of these rumours and solve the mystery of Ushio's death, using the ability he was granted upon arriving on the island - he can't die, being trapped in a time loop that's gradually shrinking. Once it reaches its limit, he'll die for real.
Can Shinpei solve the mystery and save the island that saw his birth from these strange beings? That's the question. A masterpiece, let me tell you.
