In an environment full of competition how do you see youself, yes you I'm referring to you.
Hello I'm @sylvasticks and I just wanna welcome you to my empire. .wait is it an empire? Umm it looks a little bit scares 😃
Well welcome to my blog, allow me to say I'm just timeless simple🤷
Okay so I asked a question at the very beginning of this post and you know it.
Competition I will say is now a normal stuff that has been in existence for as long I don't know but in as much as humans are concern the is always a competition.
Now considering that competition has always been and will always be, how do you handle competition in your space.
I never knew these not until I decided to learn a skill, we have more 30 students in my workplace made up of those who are beginners and those who already had an idea about shoe making, some are students some are married men and some are business people.
Let me tell you for free, you know what, don't get too excited about learning a new skill you should be excited when you know how to sell the skill you have acquired, you will realize the moment you're done learning, marketing is very important.
As an apprentice I know the pressure I face daily just to learn, you struggle to learn not because your mentor is not teaching but because you need to be better than your master.
I remember when I first started it was too complicated for my general comprehension but I knew I was gonna meet up. Now I don't see that competition from my colleagues as as a race, I now see it an a tool to improve. I once had a conversation with my colleague after we had closed for the day, and she said something striking. “You know people like you makes me feel my money here is a waste, sometimes I feel you guys are faster than I do” well I wasn't really surprise because I use to feel the same way. I remember another person told me “because you've started sewing for boss doesn't make you good”. I went home and it was still ringing in my ears. The fact is that the will always be a competition in organizations even in families but our intake and mindset matters.
Therefore I try as much as I can not hate, the moment hatred comes in it becomes something else
I watch out for improvement, when you start paying extra attention to details on you work is when excellence begin
Do not boast, the moment you begin to boast you may likely fail because you won't want to see your mistake
These things are all I've learned without anyone saying them to me, I've had an experience where a colleague of mine bet that I won't be able to deliver the order I got and even if I do it would be rejected, although it was just a game and everyone were cruising but it was at the same time serious 🤨
How do you handle competitions? Let's talk on the comments section..
