It was the day of February 21, 2025, when the four of us، friends decided to go to Lahore and see the historical buildings of Lahore that we had never seen before.
Our first destination was the Baradari of Kamran Mirza. This building was built in 1540 and was built by a Mughal prince, Kamran Mirza.
Well, I'll tell you the historical background later, but I think it's important to tell you how we reached this building, which was a very challenging journey.
Since this building is built on an island in the middle of the Ravi River, reaching it seems a bit difficult.
It was a rainy day, and the sunshine after the rain, and the resulting heat and humidity, create a very strange feeling.In this strange confusion and on this strange day, we were walking towards Baradari. We could see swampy land and garbage cans here and there. I had already realized from a distance that the historical architecture we were heading towards might not have been protected because the area next to it was also very backward.
The route was a bit strange, but we reached our destination laughing and playing with each other. Of course, our noses were a little stuffy from the stench of the place, but we had to cover this historical building too. When we reached our destination, I was not so happy.I was not happy because this historic building was not well protected.
A beautiful fresco still exists in the central courtyard of this historic Baradari building, reminiscent of the past.
This historic building in Lahore is considered to be the first building of the Mughal era, which was built in 1540 by the Mughal prince Kamran Mirza. After the passage of time, Khusro, who was the son of Shah Jahan, rebelled against his father Shah Jahan and waged war. Finally, Khusro lost the war, and was sentenced to be blinded in this same bardari and 300 of his soldiers were killed in this same baradari.
The fresco work on the building is fading with time, and in some places it has completely disappeared. It would not be an exaggeration to say that current conditions and time have erased all traces of the past, and the traces that remain are disappearing.
This historical building is two-story, and you can go to the top floor to inspect the area nearby. By the way, the Ravi River used to flow on both sides of it, but now due to the passage of time, only one side has some traces of the Ravi River, in which boats are also stuck. But these boats are stopped in only one place, which probably has no one to operate.
Just like this building, the water of the Ravi is now slowly running out and the Ravi has also changed its course.
The sad thing is that the government is not paying much attention to this building, but the locals here are probably not aware of the importance of this building, and visitors often leave with their names written on the walls, which is very strange.
This historic building occupies a very large area of land, with many trees and small buildings also standing in it.
We had gone to explore this historic building, but returning from here was no less of a challenge. On the way back, we observed many things, such as a horse. Further, on the way back, we passed by the homes of people who were very happy that someone had come to visit their area.
