Hello to all my creative art loving friends! I hope you are doing well! Finally, I finished working on my painting - a sunflower on a black background. I painted with acrylic paints on a small canvas.
It took me quite a long time to draw this. And the reason, as usual, is that I draw very slowly and not often. I like to draw when my soul is calm, but in recent months peace has been a great rarity for us since hostilities continue in our country. So, I decided to draw a sunflower on a black background. And so the first thing I had to do was paint the canvas black.
I love drawing backgrounds. This is a pleasure for me. The next step is to outline the contours of the sunflower with a pencil. Of course, this is not very visible on a black background. But I hope you can see it.
It's time to start drawing the sunflower petals. At first it wasn't difficult.
Of course, I drew from the reference. I found pictures of sunflowers and looked at them as I drew. It’s difficult for me to work without a reference because I don’t know how the shadows are laid and what shades of color. This is still very difficult for me.
And then I worked on the petals for a long time. I really wanted them to look more or less realistic. Since I wasn’t very good at it, I decided to switch for a while.
I've moved on to the next stage is drawing the middle of the flower. First the green leaves and then the very center.
When I looked at the sunflower petals after a while, I didn’t really like it and decided to correct it a little. With a pencil, I outlined what exactly needs to be drawn differently.
And I didn't like the green petals either. I tried for quite a long time to portray them the way I wanted. But I won’t say that I succeeded. I especially like to paint on the balcony when the weather allows it.
At some point while drawing, I realized that I needed to stop and leave everything as it was. Of course, there is still a lot that needs to be improved, but this is a higher level of drawing. My level is still only amateur and it is not reasonable to expect much from my paintings. So I decided to do the finishing touch: sketching out my favorite paint dots.
True, I then had to wash everything around from the paint that got there when splashed on the canvas. And I still love these splashes! And now my painting is finished!
