Transforming sundresses into skirts

Good Monday to all our creative community!!! I hope this week has been productive for you and that you are doing well!

I had two sundresses; one made of linen, the other of cotton. Both were very cool. But lately they have been sitting on me really badly. Here is an example of one of them.

It's no good, right? At one time I hoped that I would lose a little weight and the sundresses would look better on me, but then I realized that it would hardly happen. You know that I don't like to throw away clothes made of high-quality natural fabric, but I try to remake them if possible. That's why I decided to transform these sundresses into skirts.

The blue sundress had a second top skirt.

I decided to cut the top off to accommodate this part of it.

In the end I had enough fabric at the top to cut a piece of fabric from there for a belt.

It wasn't difficult at all to do, so I got it.

I did the same with the second sundress, only there wasn't enough fabric at the top for the belt, so I just folded the top part in. Also, in both projects I made darts on the belt so that the skirt would lay more neatly.

The next stage is sewing on a sewing machine. This time everything was not so scary: the sewing machine did not jam and my seams did not look much like sea waves. ๐Ÿ˜

I can't boast that I have made much progress in the art of sewing straight seams. To do this, I would have to sit down to sew on a sewing machine much more often. But still, there is some progress. ๐Ÿ˜€ And here are my finished projects!

Agree, now this skirt looks more decent on me!

The second skirt is also very comfortable and also looks good. I managed to wear them on warm days before the cold weather set in. And I was very pleased with them because both skirts turned out to be very comfortable to wear.

I managed to save two beautiful and high-quality clothes again. I forgot to say that I don't remember exactly how old these former sundresses are. Maybe they are 15 years old or more, but the fabric is so high-quality that it hasn't even changed color. I am increasingly convinced that fabrics of such quality in the modern world are becoming more and more difficult to find. Therefore, I am always fighting to extend the life of such clothes.
