Further to my previous post about my trip to Koh Kret, today I would like to recommend you to visit Wat Poramaiyikawas. This temple acts as a significant landmark of Koh Kret.

Wat Poramaiyikawas is the center of the Mon community on Koh Kret. It’s considered an ancient Mon temple dating back to the late Ayutthaya period.

The temple's unique beauty is the Mutaw Chedi which is a white Mon-style chedi with a red cloth tied on it. It is said that the red cloth is a symbol of Mon culture.

The Mutaw Chedi is a replica of a chedi (pagoda) from Myanmar in the old days. It was originally built upright, but as it is located at the headland of Koh Kret which sits alongside the Chao Phraya River, the current has caused the chedi's foundation to erode, causing it to collapse and tilt.

The Mutaw Chedi has become the temple's distinctive and significant chedi of Wat Poramaiyikawas which looks outstanding and can be visible from afar.

If you visit Koh Kret, you must not miss Wat Poramaiyikawas.
