**I wish you all a wonderful and productive week. Mine started off quite busy, very active from day one. I had to go to the Ecoland Hotel to take some routine measurements as part of my regular work. The weather couldn't have been better: a gentle warmth, typical of our beautiful island, something that every islander knows how to enjoy. As we were getting ready to leave, my mother watched us with curiosity. As soon as she heard that we were going to the hotel along the coast, she didn't think twice. With a smile, she asked us if it was that beautiful place she had seen before. When we confirmed that it was, she immediately asked for her shirt and got ready to accompany us to do the work. We were very happy that she wanted to go, because that meant that the place had made a good impression on her and she wanted to get to know it better. We took Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, a road that I always find picturesque because of its constant movement and the beautiful views that always accompany us.**

**When we arrived at the Ecoland Hotel, they were already waiting for us to do the scheduled work. My mother, meanwhile, took the opportunity to explore every corner of the place. She loves that hotel for many reasons, but above all for its natural surroundings. The vegetation that surrounds it, the sounds of the birds, and the tranquility that permeates the air make it one of her favorites.**

**Once the workday was over, we decided to take advantage of the rest of the day to show her something different. We headed to Juan Griego, with the intention of giving her a different kind of outing. Very close to the boardwalk, they have built a beautiful promenade called Paseo Luis Brión. It is a space that invites you to walk slowly, to contemplate, to breathe deeply.**

**My mother loved that walk. She was fascinated by the fresh and colorful decoration. The planters were adorned with vibrant flowers that caught everyone's attention.**

**As we walked, we enjoyed the shade provided by the triangular thorn trees, whose cheerful colors bring the place to life. What surprised us most was how clean and tidy every corner was. You could see the care and affection with which they maintain this space.**

**It was lunchtime, so we crossed the street and found a small place that served chicken shawarma. It was a novelty for my mother, since she had never tried that kind of food in Cuba, our homeland. I laughed at her reaction when they served it to her: she opened her eyes wide in surprise and said, “That's too much for one person!” She doesn't eat much, but in the end she enjoyed it so much that she almost finished it all. She loved the flavor, the blend of spices, and the texture of the pita bread.**

**With happy hearts and two goals accomplished—the work done and the walk shared with my mother—we set off on our way back home. Tuve que dirigirme al Hotel Ecoland para realizar una medición de rutina, como parte de mi trabajo habitual. El clima no podía estar mejor: un calorcito suave, típico de nuestra hermosa isla, nada que un isleño no sepa disfrutar. Mientras nos preparábamos para salir, mi madre nos observaba con curiosidad. Apenas escuchó que íbamos al hotel que bordea la zona costera, no lo pensó dos veces. Con una sonrisa, nos preguntó si era ese lugar tan bonito que había visto antes. Al confirmar que sí, enseguida pidió su camisa y se alistó para acompañarnos a hacer el trabajo. Nos dio mucha alegría que quisiera ir, porque eso significa que el sitio le había causado una buena impresión y deseaba conocerlo más de cerca. Tomamos la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, una vía que siempre me parece pintoresca por su movimiento constante y las hermosas vistas que siempre nos acompañan.*

*Al llegar al Hotel Ecoland, ya nos estaban esperando para realizar el trabajo programado. Mi madre, mientras tanto, se dedicó a observar cada rincón del lugar. Le encanta ese hotel por muchas razones, pero sobre todo por su entorno natural. La vegetación que lo rodea, los sonidos de las aves, y la tranquilidad que se respira hacen que sea uno de sus favoritos.*

*Una vez concluida la jornada laboral, decidimos aprovechar el resto del día para llevarla a conocer algo diferente. Nos dirigimos a Juan Griego, con la intención de que disfrutara de un paseo distinto. Muy cerca del malecón, han construido un hermoso paseo, llamado Paseo Luis Brión. Es un espacio que invita a caminar sin prisa, a contemplar, a respirar profundo.*

*A mi madre le encantó ese paseo. Quedó fascinada con la decoración fresca y colorida. Las jardineras estaban adornadas con flores vibrantes que captaban la atención de cualquiera.*

*Mientras caminábamos, podíamos disfrutar de la sombra que ofrecían los tordos triangulares, con colores alegres que dan vida al lugar. Lo que más nos sorprendió fue la limpieza y el orden que reinaban en cada rincón. Se notaba el cuidado y el cariño con el que mantienen ese espacio.*

*Ya era la hora de almorzar, así que cruzamos la calle y nos encontramos con un pequeño local que ofrecía shawarma de pollo. Para mi madre fue toda una novedad, ya que en Cuba, nuestra tierra natal, nunca había probado ese tipo de comida. Me dio mucha risa su reacción cuando se lo sirvieron: abrió los ojos sorprendida y dijo “¡Eso es mucho para una sola persona!”. Ella es de comer poco, pero al final lo disfrutó tanto que casi se lo terminó completo. Le encantó el sabor, la mezcla de especias, y la textura del pan árabe.*
