This Monday, here on the beautiful Isla Margarita, was a holiday in honor of the Virgen del Valle, the patron saint of the island and a figure beloved by all Margariteños. It is a date celebrated with great devotion, joy, and unity among neighbors, friends, and family. The streets are filled with color, music, and faith, and many take advantage of the day to share special moments.
I decided to take advantage of my day off to do several things, including visiting my father in the afternoon. As is customary at this time of year, the heat was quite intense, but we were prepared with cold peach juice, which is always very refreshing and helps us cope with the tropical climate. It's one of those little pleasures that make all the difference.**

Este lunes, aquí en la hermosa Isla Margarita, fue feriado en honor a la Virgen del Valle, la patrona de la isla y una figura muy querida por todos los margariteños. Es una fecha que se celebra con mucha devoción, alegría y unión entre vecinos, amigos y familiares. Las calles se llenan de color, música y fe, y muchos aprovechan el día para compartir momentos especiales.
Yo decidí aprovechar mi día libre para hacer varias cosas, entre ellas visitar a mi padre en la tarde. Como es costumbre en esta época del año, el calor estaba bastante intenso, pero íbamos preparados con jugo de melocotón bien frío, que siempre resulta muy refrescante y ayuda a sobrellevar el clima tropical. Es uno de esos pequeños placeres que hacen la diferencia.*

**When we arrived at my father's house, we found that he was not there. We were told that he was at a neighbor's house, who had invited him to share in the celebration of the Virgin. We thought it was very nice that he was enjoying himself with other people, so we didn't want to interrupt his moment and decided to leave. We were glad to know that he was surrounded by friends, celebrating and sharing.
On the way back, we decided to take a different route. We didn't go along 31 de Julio Avenue, which is usually very busy, but opted for the Guacuco highway and then took the road to Guárame. It was an excellent decision, as there was almost no traffic in that area, which allowed us to enjoy the journey in peace. What's more, that route has spectacular views that always fascinate me.**
*Al llegar a casa de mi padre, nos encontramos con que él no estaba allí. Nos informaron que estaba en casa de unos vecinos que lo habían invitado a compartir la celebración de la Virgen. Nos pareció muy bonito que estuviera disfrutando con otras personas, así que no quisimos interrumpir su momento y decidimos retirarnos. Nos dio gusto saber que estaba rodeado de amigos, celebrando y compartiendo.
En el camino de regreso, decidimos tomar una ruta diferente. No fuimos por la avenida 31 de Julio, que suele estar muy transitada, sino que optamos por la carretera de Guacuco para luego tomar la vía hacia Guárame. Fue una excelente decisión, ya que por esa zona casi no había tráfico, lo que nos permitió disfrutar del trayecto con tranquilidad. Además, esa ruta tiene unas vistas espectaculares que siempre me fascinan.*

**The only thing I don't like so much about that route is how steep the road is, but otherwise, the scenery is a real dream. Between the beautiful landscapes and the pleasant conversation we had during the trip, we finally arrived home.
After dark, we received an unexpected call. We were told that we had to pick up a package that a friend living in Russia had sent us, via a tourist staying at the Wyndham hotel. Although we had no plans to go out again, as we wanted to rest so we could get up early the next day, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to pick up the package. So we left right away.
We went, picked up the package, and returned directly home to resume our well-deserved rest.**
*Lo único que no me agrada tanto de esa ruta es lo empinada que es la vía, pero por lo demás, el paisaje es un verdadero sueño. Entre los hermosos paisajes y la grata conversación que tuvimos durante el trayecto, llegamos finalmente a casa.
Ya caída la noche, recibimos una llamada inesperada. Nos avisaron que debíamos ir a recoger una encomienda que nos había enviado un amigo que vive en Rusia, a través de un turista que se hospedaba en el hotel Wyndham. Aunque no teníamos planes de salir nuevamente, ya que queríamos descansar para levantarnos temprano al día siguiente, no podíamos dejar pasar la oportunidad de recoger la encomienda. Así que salimos enseguida.
Fuimos, recogimos la encomienda y regresamos directamente a casa para retomar nuestro merecido descanso.*
