early morning on Popes Island

Good Morning I hope your week is going well, mine is going nice easy and quiet, just taking it easy and relaxing for the most part, but today I go see the Surgeon to follow up with my Stomach Cramps and such and time in Hospital, and I will be sure to discuss the Hernia in my groin, which has been really bothering me the last few days quite painful at times.

But would you believe it, after yesterday where the bulge just would not go away and being painful for a good part of the day, this morning i got up and the bulge has subsided and it snot bothering me much, I know it will porobably flare up during the day as I Move around a bit, but kind of weirdly wish it was like it was yesterday now since i am seeing the Dr today

Ohh well it is what it is lets see what he says

Today I will share a few shots from a walk on Popes Island here in New Bedford MA not sure why I felt to add early morning in the tile as those that follow me know most of my walks are early morning, and the light in the photos or lack of it probably makes that obvious as well

Starting with a shot on the bridge heading to Fairhaven MA , the light son the left are from a hotel by the water that also has an Indian Restaurant we go to to pick up food now and again, well for for my wife she loves Indian food, me not so much so when she gets that I stop somewhere else for me

A little bit about Popes Island

Pope's Island is located in New Bedford Harbor, an estuary of the Acushnet River where it empties into Buzzards Bay. The island lies just south of Palmer's Island and is connected to the mainland town of Fairhaven by a conventional bridge. and to New Bedford by the Swing Truss Bridge i have shared photos of in posts before It is one of six small to medium-sized islands in New Bedford Harbor, and in the 19th century, it was still covered with many cedars.

Geographically, Pope's Island is situated within the bustling harbor of New Bedford, which is naturally sheltered by the Acushnet River and protected from storm surges by the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier, a structure built in the 1960s. The harbor is a major fishing port and has long been central to the city’s maritime economy.

Historically, Pope's Island has evolved into a key recreational and cultural access point. Today, it is home to Pope's Island Marina, which serves as a gateway for boaters and visitors exploring New Bedford’s rich maritime heritage. The marina’s location offers scenic views of the harbor, historic fishing boats, lighthouses, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum
