Fun Friday Water Drop refractions

Good Morning and have a great day

IN a previous Mono Monday post I shared a couple of water drop refraction shots I took in the basement and said I would share some color ones in a future post and here they are

Let me start with a photo then I will talk about how I did them

As I am not getting out for my early morning photo walks as it's been too cold for me, I have tried a couple of projects in our basement, and this was the second one and let me explain how I did them, since I never got around to going to the basement and setting it up again to snap a photo of the setup

Its actually pretty easy to setup

I grabbed for tins of food all the same height as it happened, they were cans of soup, and a sheet of glass which I grabbed out of one of the framed photos I had in a box in the basement , as I didn't have space on our walls to put them all up

and I put the glass on top of the cans, then set up the tripod over these with the camera mounted underneath it, looking down at the glass

I then put some drops of water on the glass, and used a tablet underneath to pull up some images that I used

Then it's just a matter of getting the lighting OK, and adjusting the focus to get the patterns in the water drops.

That said the first drops I did went very flat, so I tried some Rain-X I had that I use on the car window, and that worked a charm for bigger, rounder drops.

NOw if or when I do this again I know from these I need to make sure I have the camera lined up better with the glass and then hopefully I should get more of the drops in focus, as you can see there not in the previous photo

I tried various photos in the background and adjusting the lighting,
