What are friends for?
It was my first time at "Plenty but Rubbish" and I was excited at the quantity of food I got for just 300 naira. The jollof rice was smoking hot, adorned by moi-moi and beef. Taiwo on the other side of the table ate with caution knowing that he's bound to encounter 'sharp objects' or unmelted seasoning cube.

I ate with gusto and finished my meal before Taiwo was halfway. "You're too slow, alaye," I said to him. "You'll meet me at the library, I can't wait for you. I have a lot of books I want to read."
He begged me to wait, but I was impatient. He ate slowly. I told him he ate like an ajebutter. I then waited for him outside the eatery. Some minutes later, he was done and we left for the library. It was when we alighted from the shuttle that we boarded to the library that I realised I was in trouble. I was supposed to pay our fare but I didn't collect my change at 'Plenty but Rubbish'!
Taiwo handed the driver 200 naira and collected change. "Thank you, guy," I exclaimed. "I forgot to collect my change from that woman." He shrugged his shoulders and told me it was nothing. Then I remembered that Taiwo only had 300 naira which he used to buy food.
I asked him where he got money from since he told me he didn't have any. He told me not to ask him any questions and be thankful he saved me. I said thanks again. "What are friends for?" He responded. Then he burst into laughter and told me that in my impatience, I forgot my change but he collected it from the serving lady at the eatery.

Taiwo's guts and quick thinking ha always bewildered me, but it was always this statement he makes that makes me think: "What are friends for?"
So, what are friends for?
Friends are first of all for company. You will mostly be in the company of your friends at your free time, unless they are long-distance.
Friends are for inconvenience. Crazy right? But anybody who bends backwards just to make sure you are good is your friend. I have seen it many times with Taiwo and some other friends.
Friends are for holding your hands when it rains. What do you mean you have friends but you're mostly lonely when you're having a bad day? Well, now you can ask yourself this question: What are my friends for
