My Invention: A Mobile phone that does not require a data subscription or airtime
When I sit back and reflect on how much I have spent on data subscription and airtime every month, I come to the conclusion that after feeding, a greater percentage of my income goes into data subscription and the purchase of airtime. Therefore, it beckons to me that if I have the knowledge and capacity, I'd love to come up with a mobile device that does not require users to pay for data and airtime or probably a one-time subscription for both airtime and data.
The benefits will be enormous, and chief among them will be to reduce the poverty and hardship level in the society, and also give everyone equal access to the Internet and unlimited communication across borders. It would also serve as a means of creating wealth in society. The issue is that many people have been deprived of the opportunity to access the Internet because of the dearth of finances to pay for a data subscription.
Also, many people have lost out on some skill sets as a result of the inability to access those classes online. Some educational institutions offer their students classes online, especially those without a school environment. In a situation where one cannot afford data, such a person will be deprived of such opportunities.
I know of a friend who missed out on a job interview because he did not have the money to buy data for his phone. If access to data and the Internet were free, such a scenario would have been averted.
Moreover, the money that people would have used to take good care of themselves by feeding well is pushed into data subscription and buying airtime for calls.
If we can have a device that takes care of calls and data free of charge, half of the world's problems must have been solved. As the population of people begins to grow daily, the use of the Internet grows as well. There is a heavy demand for Internet usage, and most people have been deprived of this opportunity because of a lack of funds.
In a society where the prices for data subscription are not cost-friendly, people pay from their nose, and in that case, organisations and companies that provide these services become rich even at the detriment of users. Necessary products and services, such as data and call airtime, ought not to be expensive for people to buy.
Some people cannot stay a day without accessing the web. Some use the web as their office where they earn from. Therefore, coming up with a device that offers unlimited free airtime and data for the Internet will be another wonder of the modern world.
I am pretty sure that this can be achieved.
