One of the thoughts that has been plaguing my mind most of the time is the question of poverty and riches. Most times I will ask myself if poverty is man-made or natural. In this life, we have so many poor people but a handful of rich people. Why do we have extremely rich people, yet most people are so poor that they cannot afford a decent meal for themselves? Most times, I will ask, are the resources in the world not enough to take care of the needs of all humans on earth? If the resources of the earth are enough to cater to the needs of everyone, why then do we have poverty on the earth? I would agree to some extent that poverty is manmade. The system of the world is run by men, hence they determine who gets what, when and how; hence, anyone who is bereft of this idea is bound to swim in poverty.
I hate poverty with passion. Poverty is the root of most evil in the world today. Poverty is a situation of a lack of money to get the basic things of life. A person who is unable to provide for himself is vulnerable to many things. For example, such a person can be easily deceived, such a person can be manipulated, and such a person can commit all sorts of atrocities to have something to eat. Most people who are dishonest with government funds at their disposal are poor people. A poor person will want to accumulate resources today for the uncertainty of tomorrow, but the rich have no fear about tomorrow, for they know that resources will always be available. However, whenever wealthy people behave like poor people about public money at their disposal, it points to one thing which is “poverty mentality”
Poverty has a way of affecting one’s self-esteem. So many people would have achieved lots of things in their lifetime, but poverty has derailed them from doing so. Many people have great ideas and innovative abilities, yet no money to bring those ideas out. Poverty is an enemy of progress. Poverty is an enemy of humanity. The world would have been better if everyone dwelt in prosperity and progress. Many people have lost their lives because of poverty. Most sick people die because there is no money for proper medical care. Many people are in prison today as a result of poverty. Some went out to steal, rob, kidnap, etc., because of poverty, and they fell into the hands of the authorities.
If the world could be free from poverty, this world would be a better place to live in. Thank you for stopping by.
