The injustice of life: most times, the more hard work and suffering the less the money
I was returning home from work yesterday. I was hungry, so I entered a shop close by to take some snacks before heading home. On arrival at the shop, I met about four people, two women and two men. All of them were in their late forties. They were eating bread and soft drinks. My attention was on them because they were looking so dirty and shattered. Immediately, I knew they were working in one of the building sites as labourers. I knew they were not satisfied with the snacks so I opted to buy more for them. In the course of our discussion, I was curious to know how much they are paid to do the work. I was surprised at the amount they told me. I felt very bad and I wondered why life could be this cruel to some people. I was curious to know the kind of work they do at the site; they said lifting of blocks, mixing of cement, filling and other jobs as required by the site engineers. I knew they were suffering but, at the same time, working hard. In the end, I realized that they do that for a living. I began to ask myself how they manage their lives when they are sick or not strong enough to go to work.
So many people are in this category. They work hard yet they are suffering. Meanwhile, some people do not work as hard as they do, yet they are living a better life and living well. I call this the irony of life. Hence I concluded that life is not about working with strength and power to make it but about other things. To succeed in life, I believe one needs to work hard but not with strength. You need knowledge, creativity and above all favour from people.
People working hard with physical strength and power are not as successful as people working hard with knowledge, creativity and smartness. The physical strength is draining and keeps on diminishing with time and age, unlike those with knowledge, creativity, and smartness. As I said earlier, so many factors are involved in the making of a successful man, and you must take advantage of these factors. If not, you will work hard like an elephant but eat like an ant.
Most of the time, I weep at people whenever I see that the effort they put into doing a thing does not coincide with the results or outcome from it; it keeps me thinking that life can be cruel sometimes to some people. I believe that the harder a person works, the mightier the result; if not so, then life is unfair to some people. It's high time people looked into what they do and checked mate if life is fair to them. My prayer is that our effort should not amount to anything in the long run.
