10 Years of Work, a Brief Summary

Hello, my dear people. The magic of a dream come true is always gratifying. Although I know there are still many steps to take. I want to share with you some brief details about our enchanting artistic journey.

Some History

First, @teatrozo wasn't always like this. It began as one of the faces of the Koolage Art Group, which we founded in the summer of 2014. We had been working as a team for some time before then, but that year was its official formation. Thankfully, we have had many community successes. Especially in the communities of Siboney, Barbosa, Las Canteras, Flores, Atabey, and Jaimanitas; the epicenter of our work.

Places

Many other communities have been impacted by our work and that of many other invited artists. Because, we must clarify, Koolage fosters intergroup relations. We don't just exhibit our work. We are a unifying entity. We are happy to share the spotlight with all artists who wish to exhibit their work with us; we are always willing to present ours to anyone who invites us to their space.

Works

The wonders of the #Arts are the #heritage of all. Likewise, the Latin phrase "Dolce et utile" is a maxim that should encompass all artistic expressions. These have been our calling and our path; a blend of knowledge with pleasure. We have been able to bring art to so many communities with joy. We have shared our work with dozens of other communities in various regions of Havana and a few other provinces. Stages such as the Bertolt Brecht Theater, the Teatro América, the Teatro Miramar, corporate theaters, the University of the Arts (ISA), various festivals, representative theaters such as the Casa de Asia, the Casa de México, the National Museum of Fine Arts (invited to the Forum on Museums and Communities), and the presentation of Romeo and Juliet, Views from the Soul (with K-L)…

Children

With the idea of ​​segmenting Koolage through purely formal organization, children were born with affinities for Literature, Visual Arts, and Theater: K-L and Teatrozo. Then, we'd like to talk about the experiences of another Koolage native with her Grupo Constelación.

Koolage-Teatrozo was born with the intention of covering all possible #theater, both for adults, for children, and for Children (although so far we haven't had many results in this endeavor). One of the areas we've experimented with with some skill is puppetry. A moment in which we thank Cuban maestro @adaletitiritero, who this year celebrates his 55th anniversary. The twists and turns of life. As a child, I delighted in his televised shows alongside Teresita Fernández and Ananora Calasa... Who would have imagined that 40 years later I would be working with him?

K-L

Through the guidance of Ileana and Yara (@ailimay), we stumbled upon the Lusarreta Project, at the La Milagrosa Catholic parish in Santo Suárez. Under Yara's direction, several classic works have been staged. Lusarreta is a project for young people with Down syndrome with whom we have had the greatest joys. Not only on stage, but also in rehearsals, workshops, and personal experiences. For my part, although I know Yara and Ileana have also experienced it, as a teacher I have never felt more loved, more caressed, more comforted. It's a shame that these children with disabilities don't have more spaces and social inclusion. I said I'd be brief, because I get carried away and write too much... We've trod many stages. And, with a measure of healthy pride, I can say that we have the only Theater Group of actors with Down syndrome in all of Cuba (according to the highest authorities of the Council).

Goodbye

There have been many, many plastic, performance, and theatrical exhibitions... We were even able to hold the La Catedral del Picadillo Festival, a performance event that brought together artists from all over the world, up to its fifth edition. With the help of the Jaimanitas Cultural Center, Council 2 of the Playa municipality, we offer our audiences the best artistic product we can produce. And, above all: Art with joy.

10 años de trabajo, breve recuento

Hola, mi gente querida. La magia de un sueño realizado siempre es gratificante. Aunque sé que faltan muchos pasos por dar. Quiero compartir con ustedes algunos detalles breves sobre nuestra encantadora experiencia artística.

Algo de Historia

Primero, @teatrozo no siempre fue esto. Nació como uno de los rostros del Grupo artístico Koolage, que fundamos en el verano de 2014. Llevábamos un tiempo trabajando como equipo antes de esta fecha, mas ese año fue su conformación oficial. Gracias a Dios, hemos tenido muchos éxitos comunitarios. En especial en las comunidades de Siboney, Barbosa, Las Canteras, Flores, Atabey y Jaimanitas; como epicentro de nuestro trabajo.

Lugares

Muchas otras comunidades han sido impactadas por nuestro trabajo y el de otros muchos artistas convocados. Porque, debemos aclarar, que Koolage fomenta la relación intergrupal. No solo exponemos nuestro trabajo. Somos un ente aglutinante. Felices de compartir el protagonismo con todos los artistas que deseen exponer su trabajo junto a nosotros y; estamos siempre dispuestos a presentar el nuestro con quien nos invite a su espacio.

Trabajos

Las maravillas de las #Artes son #patrimonio de todos. Asimismo, el enunciado latino de Dolce et utile, es una máxima que debe abarcar todas las expresiones artísticas. Esas han sido nuestra llama y nuestro derrotero; una mezcla de conocimiento con placer. Hemos podido llevar a tantas comunidades el Arte con alegría. Hemos compartido en decenas de otras comunidades en varias regiones de la Habana y otras pocas provincias. Escenarios como Teatro Bertolt Brecht, Teatro América, Teatro Miramar, Teatros empresariales, la Universidad de las Artes (ISA), varios Festivales, Casas representativas como Casa de Asia, Casa de México, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (invitados al Forum Museo y Comunidades) y la Presentación de Romeo y Julieta, miradas desde el alma (con K-L)…

Hijos

Con la idea de segmentar Koolage por pura organización formal, nacieron hijos afín a la Literatura, las Artes plásticas y el Teatro: K-L y Teatrozo. Luego faltaría hablar de las experiencias de otra koolageña con su Grupo Constelación.

Koolage-Teatrozo nace con intenciones de abarcar todo el #teatro posible, tanto para adultos, para niños, como Teatro Infantil (aunque hasta el momento no hemos tenido muchos resultados en este camino). Una de las aristas experimentadas con cierto tino es la manipulación de títeres. Momento en el que agradecemos al maestro cubano @adaletitiritero quien este año festeja sus 55 años de vida artística. Las vueltas que da la vida. De niño me deleitaba con sus espectáculos televisados junto a Teresita Fernández, Ananora Calasa… Quien iba a imaginar que 40 años después trabajaría con él.

K-L

De la mano de Ileana y Yara (@ailimay) tropezamos con el Proyecto Lusarreta, en la parroquia católica La Milagrosa, de Santo Suárez. Bajo la dirección de Yara se han llevado a puesta en escena varias de las obras clásicas. Lusarreta es un proyecto de jóvenes síndrome Down con el cual hemos tenido las más gratas alegrías. No solo en el escenario, sino en los ensayos, los talleres y lo personal. Por mi parte, aunque sé que Yara e Ileana también lo han experimentado, como profesor nunca me sentí más amado, más acariciado, más reconfortado. Es una pena que estos chicos y chicas con otras capacidades no tengan más espacios e inclusión social. Dije que seré breve, porque se me alegra la mano y escribo demasiado… Muchos son los retablos que hemos pisado. Y, a modo de orgullo sano, puedo decir que tenemos al único Grupo de Teatro de actores Down de toda Cuba (dicho por las máximas autoridades del Consejo).

Adiós

Muchas, muchísimas han sido las exposiciones Plásticas, performáticas, teatrales… Incluso, fuimos capaz de llevar a cabo hasta su quinta edición el Festival La Catedral del Picadillo; jornada Performática que aglutinó artistas de toda la orbe. De la mano de la Casa de Cultura Jaimanitas, del Consejo 2 del municipio Playa le regalamos a nuestro público en mejor producto artístico que podemos realizar. Y, sobre todo: Arte con alegría.
