Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!


Something New!

Okay so this is something we've been meaning to do for a long time now! That is to teardown this thing! This thing is a valve body from the very problematic 10 speed transmission that Ford released. Now it looks like it can be from a totally different world and I am aching to see what we have hidden way inside!

Yup we are also going to start fiddling with these! We have done a couple of transmissions already but not really anything on the valve body of them!

Now I don't know much but I bet something real interesting is underneath this little metal plate they got here.

First thing is to get all of this sensitive stuff as far away as possible! You don't want any sharp edges cutting up wires and you not realizing it! It happens! And it can be catastrophic! DAMN!

Sorry blurries!

Now these are the real tricky stuff in the valve bodies! With no real way to test them we will give them a nice hot soaking bath to clean them up decently! We will likely repeat this process a couple of times just to have peace of mind about them!

Let's hope they are all okay!

What A Bummer

And here I though that I was going to be getting a nice learning curve here! Honestly! I was so keen on Ford learning me something again!

Nada, instead just a nice little chamber of chambers! Nothing much to see here, most likely added a steel plate for strength or something!

More Of A Dissapointment!

There really isn't much going on in here either! LAUGHS!

I am so unimpressed it's not even funny anymore! Like what even!

There is so much less inside this thing than the predecessor! This is shamefull but probably better, less stuff less problems!

So maybe this can count into our favour!

Some stuff to consider!

At-least there is like a spring or two inside the valve bodies which makes it look like something worth looking at at the very least!

I mean if that is all we probably need to inspect what is inside!

Cleaned And Prepared!

So we've finally got the most tedious part done! The cleaning of it all as well as the inspecting and testing each piston separately with and without oil just to make sure, I mean once it gets hot it's a different ball game!

Then metals start expanding and all that stuff! Problems can indeed occur!!

All We Found!

This is the only problem I found in the valve bodies! The two scored small pistons inside the valve body!

Now this is good news to find something somewhat buggered! That can make all the difference in oil pressure on a engaged clutch!

That little score can cause a little slip and a little slip turns into a big one!

I am so close to being done!

But let's take a break to admire the beauty of this beautifull piece of machinery!

Never forget to prelube all of the internal components on your valve bodies! Those pistons need oil right on start! Can't let the stuff get damaged hey!

I didn't always do this since this thing is filled over with oil when in the transmission but lately I've thought about it and it's a habbit now!
