Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has passed away, as confirmed by his investment firm Vulcan. He was 65.

Allen was struggling with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which is believed to be the cause of death. Two weeks ago he announced on Twitter that he was being treated for the disease.

Allen started Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975. In 1983 he left while being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Allen also owned the Seattle Seahawks as well as the Portland Trail Blazers.
