A close friend of mine posted this ‘drawing ‘ of his wife as an art made by a particular artist.
As an artist, I could instantly recognised the strokes weren’t hand/ man made and I jokingl asked if it was done by AI. He responded saying no, it was created by an artist and I laughed at his response because of the pride that came with it. He had posted a ‘drawing’ of himself a week ago as well by the same artist which was even more obvious to have been created by AI than the one he just posted. I asked if it was the same artist who ‘drew’ the one he posted the last time and he said yes. Then he asked why do I think the artworks were created with AI and I responded saying these:
He was disappointed thinking he had been promoting a very talented artist and also almost sent him some money in appreciation for the artworks. I did mention that the artworks were pretty and he can shouldn’t let this stop him from supoorting the young man if had the intention to, but if was important that people dont lie about what they have made and how they have made it. Apparently, the artist told him the artworks were created after so many hours with lots of hardwork and so finding out these were all possibly lies got him really disappointed. He was more surprised to see that AI could ‘fool’ people so well as showed him some artworks fone by AI. I did tell him that its okay for artists to get inspirations from AI artworks but claiming to have created it all from scratch with their hands is just too much and God knows how many people get fooled around the world. I could see throught the art as one created by AI by most people can’t as its mot their professsion and they know almost nothing about strokes, shading etc
This event sort of made me feel that artists who create art with their hands are still much appreciated and AI may not really take their jobs if they are pretty good at it. Yes, the artist who may not be as good or create art that can be easily made by AI might struggle with individuals like these claiming to be artists but in the long run, the truth prevails. What are your thoughts?
