A few years back, I shared posts of my father and me creating customized kitchen racks for my mom. This one is from a post I made back in 2021.
Nowadays, my father is doing a small remodelling in our outdoor kitchen so Mom can cook more comfortably. He repainted the cabinet and improved the counter.
Mama is happy to see the improvements, and she requested that I do something as well. Papa just painted her racks white, and she wanted me to enhance or beautify them.
I excitedly accepted the challenge. I didn't have time until yesterday, but I'm finally done with them! :)
These are the kitchen racks, which Papa already painted white. It's a great base color. The one above was from the previous post years ago, but he added longer legs to allow more space below it. :)
🎨
I decided to paint them in my room. It was hot outside, so doing it inside would be more comfortable. I just prepped my table with newspaper.
I also prepped the rack with some masking tape to preserve some spaces.
There's a soy sauce stain! haha I decided to paint this part black. :)
🎨
Then, I mixed in some paint to create the color I wanted to use on the rack. And yeah, I'm using an egg tray for my paint. We don't use it anyway, so I found the perfect use for it.
Base color done... :) Mama wants white and primarily brown, and left me to add some small designs... I thought a stencil-like design would look good on this, so I hand-painted them since I didn't have and didn't make any stencils. ^^
I got a gold glitter acrylic paint recently, so I used it for this aquatic-themed design. Then, I outlined it with black paint.
As for the smaller white spaces, I painted some cute designs using black acrylic paint. However, I added clear with green glitter paint on top of them as well. Here's a closer look!
And with this, the first rack is done. I stretched, placed it on the side, and prepared for my second task that afternoon.
This rack is literally bigger and heavier than my table, so I had to lay it on the floor, but I lined it with newspapers.
🎨
I wanted to keep this one simple. However, I wanted to do something fun, so using masking tape, I prepped the surface.
I know this part won't be seen since we're going to put the microwave on top of it... but I thought it would be cool for when we take the microwave out and see a puzzle-like design rather than just plain black. :)
I couldn't take photos of the rest of the procedure, but what I did next was remove the tapes and color the line with the glitter gold acrylic paint I had used on the turtle earlier.
After that, I colored the table brown except for its legs. I just kept the legs white for contrast.
🎨
Here they are... :) I left them on the side to let them dry. Acrylic paint tends to dry easily, so it's nice to use. ^^
🎨
Take a look at my messy workspace! hahah
And since I was just sitting on the floor, my back was extra painful... Signs of aging? haha Anyway, I had fun, so it's worth all the backache. XD
Next up! Take them to the kitchen counter!!!
My parents, especially Mama, loved them! And that made me truly happy. :) Papa and I enjoy making stuff for her and her kitchen, and she loves making delicious food for us. That's a total win-win situation! haha
So yeah, that's it for this post. Thanks a lot for checking and see you around! Have a great rest of your weekend! (^^,)/
