On Queens Princesses Presidents Walls and Helicopter Sundays SBC18!

Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.  This week's [The Silver Bloggers Chronicles - Prompt 18](https://peakd.com/hive-106316/@hive-106316/the-silverbloggers-chronicles-prompt-18-a-moment-in-history) is .... > ### A Moment In History I Witnessed > > ### What's A Moment in History I Witnessed (And How I Felt)?  ### Some I remember Before I forget, the photos you see were all taken by me in Edinburgh, the lead image of course is not Edinburgh. It is a photograph I took of a painting of Beinn Alligin, a mountain in the Torridon area of the Scottish Highlands which I climbed many years ago! Now then for those that don't know Beinn Alligin means Jewelled mountain. ___ **Berlin Wall Toppling** The Berlin Wall's physical barrier essentially fell on Thursday, 9 November 1989. When I wrote this prompt this was what popped into my head. I remember watching it all unfold over a couple of days. Years later I took Mrs T to Checkpoint Charlie and got a piece of the wall. I think it was any bit of concrete lol!  Princess Diana Death Diana, Princess of Wales, died on Sunday, 31 August 1997. I was at a cousin's wedding down in the South coast of England, and was in the hotel after the wedding having a few nippie sweeties when over the news came in the early hours of Sunday morning she had died. Well we had a few to mourn her till 6 in the morning. ___ 9/11 The September 11 attacks occurred on Tuesday, 11 September 2001. We were living in Florida when that fateful morning we got a call around 9am we were still in bed. Put on the TV Mrs T's mother said. We were watching the twin towers terrorist attack. Mrs T's cousin worked in the tower that got hit. It was only late in the evening did we get word that he was alive. Although he has been traumatised for life. Luckily he was on one of the lower floors and got out, but people leaping from the windows still haunts him and he has survivor's guilt. Sitting in bed as soon as we put the TV on I just said Bin Laden. Being an oil worker who knew the Middle East I knew all about him!  The Queen's Death Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, 8 September 2022. A sad sad day for someone who I had met. You know she passed away in Scotland. I took my last cigarette after decades of smoking as a mark of respect to her. One fact you might not know, well perhaps two actually... **Scotland's national animal is the Unicorn, and if the Queen passed away in Scotland, it would be called Operation Unicorn, as she passed away here it was called Operation Unicorn.**  Before I finish with the main item for my chronicle I wanted to put a quote from @janaveda and his [The SilverBloggers Chronicles #18 | Historic Moments Near Me](https://peakd.com/hive-106316/@janaveda/the-silverbloggers-chronicles-18-or) >As I close this post, I realize again that I focused only on negative events. I wonder, what charitable events have we witnessed in the last 40 years? Perhaps this will be an interesting topic to explore in future chronicles. Well what happened below was very charitable to me and football team 🤣  ### Helicopter Sunday Helicopter Sunday took place on Sunday, 22 May 2005, the final day of the 2004–05 Scottish Premier League season. Going into the final fixtures, our enemy Celtic held a two-point lead over my team Rangers, and also had a superior goal difference. All they had to do was win and they won the league title! Our game was at Easter Road in Edinburgh, their game was in Motherwell. We had to win against Hibernian at Easter Road and hope Celtic dropped points. My brother and I would go to all these games at the time, but we could not get a ticket. So we went to Edinburgh with Mrs T and his bird but we were a wreck. So we got on one of those open top buses for a tour of Edinburgh lol.  The league trophy would be available to be presented at whichever ground the winners emerged from. As Celtic were the overwhelming favourites, a helicopter carrying the trophy was initially on it's way to Motherwell in the West of Scotland. Edinburgh is in the East. The first half largely went as expected, with Chris Sutton giving Celtic a 1–0 lead against Motherwell, while Nacho Novo eventually scored for Rangers to make it 1–0 against Hibs. The helicopter was on it's way to Fir Park in Motherwell... **But fluffing wait!!!!** Motherwell's Scott McDonald scored an equaliser against Celtic with just three minutes of regular time remaining. As luck would have our bus was not far from Easter Road where we were playing and we heard that roar as fans realised Celtic were drawing... 3 minutes to go ... The television and radio commentators screamed the famous phrase I will never forget ... ### "the helicopter is changing direction!" We had the better goal difference ... And the icing on the fluffing cake... In the very final minute, McDonald scored again, giving Motherwell a fluffing stunning 2–1 victory over Celtic. This mental turnaround meant Rangers, who held on for a 1–0 win at Easter Road, clinched the Scottish Premier League title by a single point. My brother and I nearly fell off the bus we were celebrated so hard lol The laugh was the Australian McDonald got a transfer to Celtic ether the next year or the year after.  ### What about you?
