Vanessa and The Painted Lady

Hello Hello Hivians It's Wednesday and here in Scotland the summer is fading fast. That also means walking home from the gym in the dark. But for the now it is still light until after dinner.   ### Today though we are practising what #wednesdaywalk is all about! Look at what is around you! ### Empty bus station! I had just started the walk home which involves taking a short cut through Kirkcaldy bus station. But guess what?  Yep, there are no buses, visible or otherwise. It turns out that there had been an accident on the A92 bypass road at the west Kirkcaldy exit which was causing horrendous traffic jams as it happened at the height of rush hour! Not that I wish ill on anyone, but I was thinking it was another reason than I don't miss driving now! ### "Look" My elbow got tapped as Mrs T tapped me and whispered "Look" whilst pointing to a wall...  With her native american roots I call her The Scout and she never fails to deliver to find me things to photograph even when we are on a speedy walk in case it rains!  ### Hello Painted Lady  One of the best bits of AI which I have used for quite some time is Google Lens... And it has told me that ,,, **The image shows a Painted Lady butterfly (Vanessa cardui).** It is a well-known butterfly species found on every continent except South America. Painted Ladies are known for their long-distance migrations, traveling northwards from North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Well it was a cute wee thing. Mrs T has a soft spot for butterflies as we saw a few wings of ones on May Isle that had fallen victim to preying birds! Nature as beautiful as it is, certainly can be cruel.  No sooner had we left the bus station when the Look whisper came back along with the tap on the elbow!  I thought I had missed it.  But oh no, someone was in full on munching mode!  ### Hello Buddleia  Okay so Buddleia is the flower than Vanessa is munching on!  **Do you name your butterflies?** Well this one is Vanessa, which is a female name, but I am not sure if this is a boy or a girl?  ### Hello Red Admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) The image shows a Red Admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) resting on a Buddleia flower. Her Latin name makes her sound like Vanessa from Atlanta! Pleased to meet you Vanessa!  I think they are the most recognisable butterflies here in the UK. I am pretty sure it was the first one I could remember anyway.   One awesome thing about them is that the caterpillars of the Red Admiral primarily feed on common nettles.   Vanessa meanwhile was determined to model for me.  And started spinning all around so that I could see each side.   Including the underside.  One other thing I like about them is their antennae, it looks like a cord charger I have!
