🇪🇸 ~ Hace algunos días atrás la mascota de unos vecinos muy queridos falleció por edad, un pequeño perro que más que mascota fue un miembro de la familia muy amado; la conocí siendo viejita, sorda y casi completamente ciega, pero siempre muy limpia y bien peinada, un hijo más de la pareja que le hablaba como si fuera una persona, una niña de la casa. > 🇺🇸 ~ A few days ago, the pet of some dear neighbors passed away due to old age. She was a small dog who was more than just a pet; she was a beloved member of the family. I knew her when she was old, deaf, and almost completely blind, but she was always very clean and well groomed, another child of the couple who spoke to her as if she were a person, a little girl of the house. Ori siempre me cayó bien, era cariñosa con las personas y aunque celosa con su familia, aprendió a compartir espacio con el gato adoptado de la señora de la casa, un minino de la tercera edad que así como ella necesitaba una familia paciente y atenta de sus necesidades; eran entonces 2 ancianitas que se acompañaban en su cotidianidad, y yo las veía cerca una de la otra durante el día cuando dejaban salir a Ori para tomar el sol. > I always liked Ori. She was affectionate with people and, although jealous of her family, she learned to share space with the lady of the house's adopted cat, an elderly feline who, like her, needed a patient family attentive to his needs. They were two old ladies who kept each other company in their daily lives, and I would see them close to each other during the day when they let Ori out to sunbathe. El día que partió estuve allí, Ori la estaba pasando bastante mal y era el momento de llamar al doctor, afortunadamente su familia por amor y piedad le dio un último gran regalo, la posibilidad de irse sin dolor; nunca es facil la decisión, pero si existe la oportunidad y sobre todo cuando me llaman en estos casos por apoyo, me esfuerzo por explicarle a la familia que es una bendición muy grande irse en brazos de quien amas y de una forma tranquila, indolora, y reconfortado por una voz familiar: Este el ultimo gran gesto de agradecimiento y amor que pueden tener con ellos cuando sus cuerpos no pueden mas. > The day she left, I was there. Ori was having a pretty hard time, and it was time to call the doctor. Fortunately, her family, out of love and mercy, gave her one last great gift, the chance to leave without pain. The decision is never easy, but if the opportunity arises, and especially when I am called in these cases for support, I try to explain to the family that it is a great blessing to leave in the arms of those you love, in a peaceful, painless way, comforted by a familiar voice: This is the last great gesture of gratitude and love they can have with them when their bodies can no longer cope.

Desde el día que Ori partió no he vuelto a hablar del tema con su familia, ellos estan muy afectados, la amaban muchísimo, asi que supuse pasaría algún tiempo, quizá un año o más para poder conversar sobre Ori nuevamente, para recordar juntos lo bonito de ella. Por eso me sorprendió mucho que la señora tocara a mi puerta y me ofreciera esto hoy, las cosas de Ori. > Since the day Ori left, I haven't talked about it with her family. They are very upset; they loved her very much, so I figured it would take some time, maybe a year or more, before we could talk about Ori again, to remember together how beautiful she was. That's why I was so surprised when the lady knocked on my door and offered me this today, Ori's things. Es una larga lista de medicamentos, paseadores, algunos cepillos y su cama con sus almohadas; estoy segura que no fue facil para ella desprenderse de estas cosas, fue muy dulce, me dijo: _"Reuni las cosas de Ori pensando en tus gatos y tambien los gatos que cuidas, por si hay algo aqui que te sirva o pueda ayudar"._ > It's a long list of medications, walkers, some brushes, and her bed with her pillows. I'm sure it wasn't easy for her to part with these things. She was very sweet and said to me, _“I gathered Ori's things with your cats in mind, and also the cats you take care of, in case there's anything here that you can use or that might help.”_
