Happy Friday everyone! It looks like we survived another work week. It's been an ugly day today with Bitcoin dropping to $108,000, let's hope we see a rebound soon rather than further erosion. But rather than talk about the depressing crypto prices I thought it might be fun sot share one of my animal coins. I've always loved to collect coins that depict animals!
This is a coin I picked up from a jewelry shop that I frequent. The owner buys and sells silver and gold. Normally he sends things off to be melted daily, but when he finds coins he thinks I might like he puts them aside for me. I think I bought this right after the pandemic lockdowns eased up in California, apparently people were selling silver and gold to survive.
I only payed spot price for he coin which is great, especially since some idiot put a fingerprint on the back of the coin decreasing it's value. You can't win them all! This coin comes from the African nation of Chad and features the iconic lion.

This coin is really a pretty common coin with 50,000 produced, but it is made with one Troy ounce of .999 silver which is always a good thing! The reverse (back) of the coin of course has the fingerprint which really reduces it's value. An uncirculated coin would likely bring in around $67, but with the fingerprint much less. The silver value alone is $39.68 at the moment, silver prices are once again on their way back up! At least some of my investments are increasing in value today!

Although it's not really my favorite in my collection I still like it, I really should shop around for one without a fingerprint one of these days.
