The week of the dogs!

Heyy! This week has been a dog filled week hahahah! It started out with us getting a message saying someone had found a dog and it was covered in porcupine spines,

so we went over to her house and tried helping with getting them off, unfortunately the dog was very scared of people so didn’t let us get her to pull the spines off. So the next day we went back with some sleeping pills to try and get her drowsy enough to catch her and pull the spines out, that also didn’t work the only thing I managed to do was get a close up picture of her spikes.

so after 3 days of trying the lady who found her managed to catch her and call a vet to come and pull the spines out! I wasn’t there when they actually got them out but apparently she is doing really good now!

AND on top of that we’ve recently started fostering a new dog, and we’re still trying to figure out her name. The volunteers who worked at the bar started calling her Pizza because she went crazy for the pizza they were serving, which is honestly kinda funny. But me and my mom didn’t think Pizza really suited her, so we started trying to come up with other names. Right now, I’m voting for May, my mom likes Nube, and Percy’s stuck on Molly. So yeah, it’s still a whole debate going on over here 😂

We decided to foster her because we found out she has a type of cancer called canine transmissible venereal tumor (TVT)and on top of that, she was also pregnant. The vets told us it would be really dangerous for her to give birth with the tumor, and she or her puppies might not make it. So we had to make the hard choice to spay her even though she was pregnant, just to keep her safe.

About two weeks after that, she had to go in for her first round of chemo. At first, everything seemed fine — for like two days she was totally normal, eating, walking around. But then she suddenly stopped eating and started throwing up a lot. We had to give her anti-nausea meds, which helped a bit, but she still didn’t eat for like three whole days. It was kinda scary, but eventually, she started acting like herself again and eating a little bit.

The only bad part is that now she has to go in for her second round of chemo today! which sucks because she just started getting better. We’re planning to give her the anti-nausea stuff before she gets sick this time, ‘cause we are NOT doing all that again. Poor girl, and poor us having to clean it up every time 😭 But honestly, she’s been such a good dog through all of the sickness. She’s so calm and just loves being around people. Like you can tell she’s been through a lot, but she still just wants to be near us. We’re really hoping the chemo works and she gets better soon, because she honestly deserves the best.

Also still open to name suggestions if anyone’s got ideas 👀
