Hello y'all, I'm Byron and I draw zombies. Occasionally I also draw frogs, especially when someone that has a username of Treefrog goes and buys me a coffee at my ko-fi store.
I wasn't expecting the tip and they aren't expecting the art present I'm about to drop to them but they did get to watch me draw it live in my Twitch livestream the other day.
I was using a photo reference from google when I began drawing. Photo references are really handy and I recommend them whenever you need to use them. This isn't exactly what the treefrog in the picture looked like but it was close enough for me.
I nearly turned it into a zombie treefrog but opted for a grumpy look instead.
Then I painted it.
I did the painting the livestream as well, using watercolour paint. I really like how the colour changes depth and dynamic of the drawing.
I started with yellow and built up layers with different shades of green and blues. After I painted the orange eyes I smeared and dabbed the frog with the leftover orange paint still on the brush to bring some random to the frogskin.
When it was dry I touched it up again with the black ink to add further depth and illusion. A few curved lines around the mouth and eyes somehow trick the brain and the whole image looks a little bit more realistic, or at the very least, believable.
Once I felt I was done, I digitized it and tweaked things a little bit with Photoshop.
This is the final raw image, no edits, so you can compare.
The final image will be minted as a 1 of 1 NFT on the WAX blockchain and given to Treefrog in the coming days. I also double dip my art and I'll be giving the ink versions away free to people in various creative ways in the coming days as well.
Well that's about it for this post because I can't think of what else to say other than thanks for reading, hope you dig the art. Let me know in the comments what animal you might like to see drawn by me.
