A Learnable Moment in Data Collection

You know those moments that just make you facepalm? I had one of those today.

My plan was to finally write a post about the hive-census script that's been running for the last week. It was supposed to be a deep dive into the data I'd been collecting. I was ready to run some interesting metrics, create some charts, and share the results.

Then I looked at the database. Data was missing. A whole week of processing, and the results were incomplete. sigh

Actual photo of me, *probably*.

So, this morning, I painfully rewrote the parts of the script that were causing the issue and started the entire week-long process over again. I guess we'll see the results next week, hopefully.

This is a great, if frustrating, reminder to always double and triple-check your work before you walk away and leave something running for a long time. It was definitely a learnable moment, but a painful one nonetheless.

As always, Michael Garcia a.k.a. TheCrazyGM
