In the Philippines, puto bumbong is a well-known delicacy. It is formed of rice cake that is steamed in a bamboo tube using ground purple rice mixture. The item, which is sold during simbang gabi, is more well-known throughout the holiday season. It has margarine or butter, cheese, condensed milk, and grated coconut on top. You could also have it with a slice of leche flan on top.
This is a rare discovery in Cebu as it is more popular in the Luzon region of the Philippines. Thankfully, some internet retailers are offering it for sale, so I got it right away because I was missing and hankering for it. You should try it one of these days!
