Marrakesh is not only famous for it's markets but as well we can find so many museums and palaces there. Many of our readers already know that we love coffee , therefore we couldn't leave the country without visiting the fantastic Dar El Bacha museum. It's famous for it's coffee shop with more than 100 different brands of coffee from all around the world. Since the waiting time to visit is long, they strategically put contemplary museum of arts and architecture.

"Located in the old Medina of Marrakesh, Dar El Bacha is a majestic palace built in the 1910s by Thami el Glaoui. The palace is considered to be the archetype of Marokkan architecture, as it illustrates both the know-how of native craftsmen and the pasha's interest in European, especially Italian, inspired decor, as manifested in the doors, the windows, and the built-in central heating system in the different rooms." (Text from brochure that we got in the museum)

Our day started with an excellent breakfast on a rooftop of our riad. The view was amazing, sunrise was interesting and we even noticed many air balloons in the far distance. After that we took a walk through almost empty medina, which was really pleasant.

Soon we realised that we are not the only ones wanting to try a cup of coffee. We were surprised by a long queue of people waiting at the entrance. After half an hour we bought tickets for 120 DAM (12€). If you go there, please take into consideration that you will need to wait minimum 2 hours to get your table. In the meantime we went through a museum full of woodworks. There was also photography exhibition of Lalla Essaydi from USA. Photography pieces were very interesting for the eye.

Coffee was tasting good, but mass of tourist are making your visit less personal as waiters do not really have time to explain you about differences in coffees and give some recommendations. The museum and bar itself is very beautiful and interesting to see. We have learned many fast about the materials they are using and type of woods, which are preferred in building big ornamental entrance doors.

We got to learn that Marocco is remarkable in biodiversity. Forest cover around 9% of the country surface area. This is equivalent to 4.8 million hectares. Mainly you found the following spices growing there: the Atlas Cedar, the cork Oak, the Argan and the Walnut trees.
