Welcome Back,
Last week I shared a blog on the air quality index in my city and explained how the bad air is becoming a problem for each and everyone living here, especially those who are already suffering from asthma and lung diseases. For them, the situation is even worse, and doctors are already asking people to leave Delhi for a few weeks if they want to feel fine.
Today I was searching for the air quality index around my area, and I was surprised when I saw that the air quality index in my area was below 200. This was really shocking because the air quality index in my area is usually above 300. Seeing a reading below 200 is a complete surprise for anyone who lives here. So I started researching the reality behind it.
In most places in my city, the air quality index is suddenly looking better, and the government is taking credit for it. The reality is something else. The government is using water around the area where the air quality index is being recorded. There are workers who are sprinkling water near the machines so that the readings will come down. This is how they are able to show these numbers to the people living in the city.
Those who do not understand social media properly will fall into the trap of media showing that the air quality is getting better. The truth is that there is no real improvement. My friend has an air purifier and an air quality meter at home, and the readings there are two times higher than what the internet and the media outlets are showing.
This is a very bad step, whether political or something else, because it will not help the people. They should take steps that will actually improve the air quality. I know this is not something that can be fixed in one day, but with proper planning we can achieve real improvement in the coming years. If the air quality becomes better, everyone living in my city will feel healthier.
Do you think there are any small practices that we can apply in our own lives? Because the change always starts from within us, so we should be the first ones to take that step. What do you do to make sure that you are not polluting the air? Do let me know, as the comment box of this blog is always open for everyone.
Thank you.
