We ask that you read our Creative Nonfiction Tips post to learn about the creative nonfiction genre and review our guidelines.
Important notes:
- Creative nonfiction stories are based on your real-life experiences.
- We are looking for real short stories—not advice columns, reports, recipes, or political commentary.
- Ideal length: 750–1500 words. Minimum for curation: 350 words.
- Please focus on quality content. Proofread and use a grammar checker.
- Comment on at least two other stories for each one you post.
- No NSFW, graphic violence, or abuse content.

Nutty as a fruitcake
Meaning: Could describe someone who is eccentric, delusional, or wildly creative.
- Maybe a relative built fairy houses out of bottle caps—and you loved them for it.
- Or perhaps someone you knew started talking to plants after a breakup.
Tell us about it! Use characters, setting, dialogue, and action to bring your story to life!
