Growing up, we thought adulthood was all about freedom—staying out late, making money, and living life on our own terms. LOL. Turns out, it’s just bills, responsibilities, and a never-ending to-do list that no one warned us about.
The economy is basically playing “hard to get,” jobs are like a rare Pokémon—impossible to catch, and somehow, we’re expected to have life figured out before 25. Oh, and let’s not forget the silent competition—everyone seems to be winning, and you’re there wondering if you missed the memo.
We’re constantly on the edge, juggling multiple battles at once:
💼Finding a job—because apparently, “entry-level” now requires 5 years of experience. Make it make sense.
❤️ Maintaining relationships—because who knew texting back could feel like another full-time job?
🎯Finding purpose—or at least pretending we have one when aunties at family gatherings ask, "So what are you doing with your life?"
👨👩👧👦 Making our parents proud—because somehow, their dreams for us involve being both a doctor, an engineer, and a CEO at the same time.
😌 Finding joy in all this chaos—because what’s the point of all this stress if we can’t even be happy?
Honestly, it’s exhausting. The pressure to “have it all together” is suffocating. Some days, we’re just winging it, surviving on vibes and the hope that one day, we’ll wake up and magically have life figured out. (Spoiler alert: We won’t.)
But here’s the thing—nobody actually has it all figured out. Adulting is not about perfection; it’s about persistence. It’s about showing up, even when we feel lost. It’s about taking it one step at a time, celebrating small wins (like finally sleeping before midnight), and learning to embrace the chaos.
Yes, times are hard. But we’re not just surviving; we’re pushing through. We are learning, unlearning, and figuring things out as we go. And that, my friends, is more than enough.
So to every young Nigerian out there feeling like they’re running a race they never signed up for—breathe. You’re doing better than you think. We may not have it all together yet, but one thing is sure: we’ll get there.
And if not, at least we’ll have good stories to tell. 😂💙✨
