I am now in the One Bitcoin Club community on Hive! Besides having a community presence on the Hive blockchain (C/OneBitcoinClub), they have their own front-end / interface (OneBitcoinClub.org) for posting. Any posts made from that interface have the ability to earn a few "sats" (Satoshis) which is the smallest denomination of one Bitcoin. Each "sat" is only worth 0.00000001 BTC, but they can add-up over time! It takes about 0.00001217 BTC (1217 sats) to equal one USD / HBD.
I heard about this whole thing a month or two ago, but hesitated signing up for it. Why? Because it involved signing-up to "yet another account" on a new website, and installing "yet another wallet" on my computer. I've already installed so many wallets and signed-up to so many websites since getting into crypto, it seems there's no end in sight. ๐คจ But this one seemed worth the trouble, so I bit the proverbial bullet and did it.
There were several steps involved, but it wasn't difficult, all-in-all. The simplest distillation of steps are:
- install Hive Keychain (which I already have, use it every day!)
- install Xverse wallet browser extension
- Load 0.00005 BTC (โ4.14 HBD) minimum into Xverse wallet
- Sign-up for a "Bitcoin social" account
- Connect Xverse wallet & Hive account with that account
I'm not sure why the instructions say to create a new Hive account for this purpose, but I did it because it said to do it. Since I am "thekittygirl" on Hive, I went with "thekittygirl.btc" here. Then afterwards, I saw others had used their existing Hive accounts and seem to be successfully connected. I'm curious as to whether it really makes a difference to have a new Hive account rather than use an existing one, or not. Maybe @starkerz can enlighten us... ๐ง AND... if we can use existing Hive accounts, can we link them after the fact, and ditch these "****.btc" accounts...?!?!? Or would that cause problems?
I loaded 0.00010503 BTC (โ8.70 HBD) into my Xverse wallet, a little more than the minimum, to be on the safe side. The Xverse wallet extension seems to be working well and is easy to use. The OneBitcoinClub.org interface is apparently built upon the code for the Ecency interface to Hive, but I suppose I can get used to that. ๐
It would be kinda nice if we could still post to our regular communities while doing the OneBitcoinClub thing. As co-founder of LadiesOfHive, I feel a pressing obligation to make most of my posts there, with a few others in TheAlliance, or SilverGoldStackers, whatever is appropriate. I don't want to abandon those communities completely, but would like to participate here as much as I can to earn a few sats in addition to HP and HBD! ๐ฐ
If anyone else is interested incoming on-board, too, here is the post I used for detailed instructions to signup:
There is an embedded video by @starkerz in there as well as a handy step-by-step list for guiding you through the process. NOTE: I do not use Chrome browser ๐คข and everything worked just fine in my regular Opera-GX browser, with no glitches!
