Yesterday was my Uncle's Birthday and it was only a simple birthday celebration but very special. One of our tradition here are doing Mañanita to the Birthday celebrant, as for that Different kinds of morning snacks and coffee are served to the visitors who joined the activities. It was really fun and enjoyable, giving candles and flowers to the birthday celebrant while singing the birthday songs. It takes almost an hour and while the visitors was busy singing the Birthday song, me and my Aunt also busy preparing the snacks for them. We prepared sliced bread, sphagetti, hot coffee and corn cakes. After singing the Birthday song, they proceed to prayed the Birthday celebrant and gives a wish to my Uncle. After that, we started to eat and drink coffee and this is the first part of the Birthday celebration.
As we continously eat our snacks and having a conversation to our relatives and friends, my Aunt also prepared the things they will used for cooking to the foods for lunch. While drinking coffee some of our relatives also sung their favorite morning songs using their guitar and they enjoyed singing their favorite songs. It was 5 in the morning when some of my Uncle's friends also came and we served them a hot coffee and snacks. My cousins also busy cleaning the entire place and listing the engridients for the food they will cook.
It was 8 in the morning when we started to cooked some of the dish for lunch. Gladly my Aunt was decided to went at the supermarket early in the morning just to buy the engridients that is why she went back early also. My Husband also very busy gathering lots of firewoods and it was difficult for him to gathered because there ia only few dry branches of the trees can be found here. Kitchen utensils are already prepared and the only thing we wait are the potatoes and carrots and other spices for the dish.
After a few minutes of waiting, finally the carrots, potatoes and other spicies has finally arrived brought by my Aunt, and we started to pelled and sliced those carrots and potatoes. Some of my cousins are having a lot of fun time singing and doing funny conversations.
My Uncle who celebrates his specially day was also busy slicing and boiling the meat but He was very shy by taking him photos. They brought 3 Kilos of meat and two chickens and this will be fit to all visitors and guests.
My Aunt also made her special dish learned from social media and this is the Bihon wrapped with lumpia wrapper. This will be my first time to eat it, She learned it from social media and I was very delighted to taste her special dish. First she cooked the Bihon before wrapping it with lumpia wrapper, frying methods does not take long and it only needs a few minutes until it cooks.
While waiting for the food to cooked our relatives also take a shot by drinking hard drinks while singing their favorite songs. It keeps them enjoyed and not getting bored while waiting for the food. I only listened to the song they sung while while watching my Daughter played outside of my Relative's house.
After a few hours of kept waiting the foods to cook, finally the dish has finally served at the table. Before we eat our lunch, we do prayer for the food and also to birthday celebrant. This is also one of our traditions specially when celebrating Birthday. Until next post, have a nice day to everyone.
