Welcome to my last Wednesday Walk this year! Today, I will take you on a stroll around Parola Bagacay Point in Liloan. Parola means lighthouse. It is one of the most popular lighthouses in Cebu. It was a cold day and I couldn't wait to explore this spot for the second time around because the first time I visited this place, it was raining so I didn't have enough time to take a walk.

Located in close proximity to the lighthouse is a large housing development called Amara. Both sides of it were subdivisions being built. Along the path of the Bagacay Point are trees of green and bushes around the restricted area. This huge lot also covers the real estate to the cliff of the rocky land where stunning houses are visible.

I did not make my way down to the seawater because aside from the majority of it being restricted, it would take a 10-min walk thru the prickly bushes to get there. The breeze here was so refreshing since the sun hasn't been shining the past few days, making it perfect for outdoor replenishment. I even spotted a pup sleeping beside the pathway.

As I walked near the Lighthouse, I couldn't help but be fascinated by its American-influenced architecture. This lighthouse was built in 1904 by former governor general William Howard Taft and it serves as a guide for seafarers entering the north-east channel of Cebu. It is 72 feet tall and can provide a guiding light for up to 17 nautical miles.

The Parola Bagacay point is located on a partially elevated land in Liloan. It is a public place and there is no entrance fee whatsoever. It is a popular spot for locals to have small gatherings or just relax under the lighthouse. As I spent more time there walking around and taking pictures, more people kept coming.

As I continued my walk around, I came across their solar panel installed just beside the lighthouse structure. This lighthouse is powered by solar including those functional houses around it. I would like to visit the inside of the lighthouse and explore it, but it has not been open to the public and I do not recall any occasions when they have allowed people to go inside the tower.

I saw people doing their personal things alone and often enjoy spending time with their loved ones around the Bagacay Point. The natural surroundings provide a beautiful and peaceful setting for relaxation and enjoyment. One might spend the day breathing in the cold, fresh air from the trees and the salty aroma of the sea, taking in the beauty of the surroundings and the history of the lighthouse.

Overall, my Wednesday Walk to Parola Bagacay Point was absolutely refreshing. The natural surroundings, the people around, and the old lighthouse combined is an idyllic picture ushering from time to time. Until next time!"
